    I worked at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

Interns gain hands-on experience in the daily management of a Sherwin Williams branch. In addition to gaining thorough product knowledge, interns have the ability to work on specific projects designed to be integrated with the regional growth strategy.

    Cons

This internship heavily focuses on retail skills in addition to general business skills. Interns help manage warehouse storage, make paint, and stock shelves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should present interns with challenging summer projects to not only help the branch but to also help the intern envision the branch's position in the greater area.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The pay and benefits. Most of the people working at sherwin are pretty good people .

    Cons

The HR is horrible. Currently a temp to hire, but I hear the wait is at least 2 yrs. I haven't received a check and I'm going on 3 weeks. I spoke with HR, and the only thing she could say is sorry.. Let's wait a few days and see what happens. .. Give me a break... I'm glad I wasn't trying to make a future with this company .. Very unpleasant HR⬇️

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people with ... People skills and exceptional customer service skills. Willing to go beyond there calling to help employees with any problems they may have.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good pay coming out of college, good benefits, opportunities to move up in the company and around the country, stable company and my work/life balance has been great (but i don't have children or anything)

    Cons

A sales rep once told me about this company "you wont get rich, but you'll never have to worry about losing your job," which is very true, when i worked in the stores the hours kind of sucked but I've seen much worst in retail mgmt. I've got small gripes here and there but overall I'm happy I work here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work, this company is definitely going in the right direction, they are asking more and more out of their employees (which irks some people) but I see it as trying to avoid complacency in the long run.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

The employees are great. Most contractors are awesome people. They match 6% on your 401k. Great benefits. Great experience. Training is second to none. Great perks for hitting your budget and profit goals. A lot like owning your own business with a backing of a $10+ billion company. Incredible career paths.

    Cons

It's hard work during summer and if your employees quit out of the blue. Not much desk time. But you learn to multitask.

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams

    Pros

This is a great job out of college, but also has the potential to be long term career move. Many people stick around in this company for a long time because there are so many benefits to staying. Career growth and great upper management can be hard to find in a company, but Sherwin-Williams has both of those going for it. I felt like people actually cared about me here and that I was not just an asset that could be tossed aside at any point.

    Cons

Retail obviously has it's challenges with crummy hours and oddly scheduled work weeks. Although it can be fairly easy for a recent college grad to become a manager and make good money quickly, it can be difficult to make significantly more money after this without a fairly big promotion (many times requiring relocation). Many managers get caught between the range of $55,000-$75,000/per year for a long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep treating your employees as people and not as assets!

    Pros

I love working retail. I've been with this company for five years. I thought about moving up the ladder, but I wouldn't do it in kc

    Cons

The store manager really sucks. Super lazy. Makes assistant do everything. And complains about how he doesn't agree with how things are done. The assistant does so much work, you can tell they're stressed, but not once do they complain. Just smile and keep working.

    Pros

my direct manager is great and all the people are wonderful to work for. Corporate life is new and interesting.

    Cons

The hardware and software are last century, would be able to work more efficiently if it were 2015 technology! Customers are why we have the business and jobs, but corporate should realize yes is not always the best answer
