    Pros

    Great benefit plans. There are locations all over the U.S.

    Cons

    It is very difficult to move up without a college degree. Positions outside of sales are very limited and competitively sought out for. Employees are forced to re-locate in order to move up the corporate ladder. Stores are constantly short staff. Many mangers do not care about helping their associates move up in the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management should focus more on improving all employees. Top management only focus on store performance and store managers. Part times and sale associates are highly disregarded to store success.

    Decent pay, as well as opportunity of promotion if you have a degree.

    Cons

    Over worked!!! Basically you are the clean up guy if you aren't the store manager.

    Pros

    Sherwin-Williams is a great place to start your career, especially if you are just out of college. They provide in depth training and fantastic benefits, the pay is also pretty good.

    Cons

    The hours absolutely suck-there is no reason that Sherwin-Williams needs to be open on a Sunday, and no reason to be open until 6 on a Saturday. Upper management also thinks they can control everything, and that there always needs to be a manager in every store to babysit because they don't trust their other employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Have some faith and trust in your third and fourth keys. Re-evauluate your hours of business-you are spending more to pay someone to work on a Sunday than you are bringing in.

    Pros

    Competitive salaries and benefits package. Great fitness facility with knowledgeable and talented staff. There is also a healthy cafe within the building.

    Cons

    At times the corporate culture can be limiting. There is a stifling sense for those who are creative in addition to being ambitious. It seems the culture promotes those who fit a more traditional mold and play a very conservative game. There is a sense of a good old boys network and many employees feel excluded from the opportunity to excel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Evaluate departments more frequently and involve the entire staff. Limiting communications makes for a less effective team. Within the company it appears that withholding information is a way of maintaining power. I feel this only undermines the companies overall success.

    Flexible hours, made for good money in my time off while I was still in high school

    Cons

    Did not get the sense that it was easy to move up the ladder within the company. Had to work some Saturdays and Sundays since retail is open 7 days a week.

    Opportunity to increase salary through performance based bonuses, good vacation/leave, & other benefits. Amazing growth & development opportunities.

    Cons

    Min. 48 hours per week, low base salary considering hours & experience. Not as easy to advance/transfer as originally advertised. Training at head quarters in Ohio, somewhat inflexible in scheduling.

    Not the job for someone who values their time more than their money.

    Pros

    Laid-back environment and the company seems of care about its employees.

    Cons

    There aren't many promotion opportunities available. Many of the people in management roles never move up from that position. If I had wanted to move up from Intern to Assistant Manager I could have, but going beyond that within the district didn't seem very likely. Having said that, if you're able to relocate anytime you're asked you will promote much quicker.

    Okay pay, good benefits, learn about paints

    Cons

    Retail means open on weekends, close late for a paint store, almost always working by yourself, outdated computer system, higher ups are not in touch at the store level

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Close early on Saturday and don't even open on Sundays. When you get only 4 customers all day on the weekends it is a waste to be open.
