I worked at Sherwin-Williams as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Active, day goes by really fast, people are friendly, I really enjoy all my co workers

    Cons

Too much labor work, I didn't feel like I learned anything of the business side of it. My store was overwhelming so I had to do the same task as everyone else if not worse because I was the newest.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach the intern more if business side

I have been working at Sherwin-Williams part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Gained experience with customer service and sales.

    Cons

Was interested in going to the MTP to become an assistant manager, but was then informed that once you are trained, you have no say in the location you are sent. If you refuse to move out of state where they want you, you will be fired the next morning.
Dealing with angry rushed contractors all day, or their workers who feel like its finally their turn to be someones boss when they come buy the paint. Lots of busy work and breaking down pallets of stock in back room.

Former Employee - Manager in Indianapolis, IN

    I worked at Sherwin-Williams full-time

    Pros

    -Great Benefits
    -Good People
    -Good District Management
-Great opportunity for advancement if you are woman, minority, etc. A downside if you do not fit these requirements.
    -Tuition reimbursement

    Cons

-If you aren't in the inner circle, you are out
-Promotions often don't seemed based off of merit.
-There is absolutely no transparency/honesty. Although, the new district management team is much better

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sherwin-Williams has a powerful grapevine among employees because we are all like family. It is absolutely disheartening to go into interviews knowing that you have no chance of getting the promotion. Also, make sure that you truly value being ethical in doing business. Many of the employees on the "fast track" continually do unethical things and they get swept under the rug. SW has always valued ethics/morals but lately it doesn't seem that way.
