I have been working at Shoe Carnival full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of them. Freedom, not micro managed & treated very fairly. Upper management are good decision makers for the most part as well. Very few retail jobs can be viewed as careers but Shoe Carnival is one of them.

    Cons

Number one are the travel strains. Puts a lot pressure on your family life to throw yourself into this job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We need to stay ahead the curve better. Behind in a lot of aspects when it comes to technology. We play catch up a lot.

I worked at Shoe Carnival part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

You get a great employee discount, managers and coworkers were always nice, fun place to work, get to work more hours if someone calls out :)

    Cons

Rude customers, get sent home early if not making the day (sales wise) and almost no weekends off unless requested it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give harder working employees more hours.
Arrange schedule so everyone has at least one weekend a month off.

I worked at Shoe Carnival part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I had a lot of fun working at Shoe Carnival, primarily because I worked with friendly and competent individuals that genuinely wanted to help customers have the best experience possible. I worked at Shoe Carnival while attending college and management was more than accommodating with my scheduling.

    Cons

At times customers were rude, but that can be expected anywhere you work in the retail industry. Theft always created awkward and tense moments, but again just part of retail.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The only advice I would have is to increase the pay across the board. That was a big issue for me but I enjoyed working there so much I put that aside. Overall a great place to work.

I have been working at Shoe Carnival full-time

    Pros

They have the right people at the top of the ladder, and they look out for everyone. Very professional company. They are still expanding, so there is always opportunities to advance.

    Cons

The only negative thing I could say is that they don't always put their stores in the best location. I helped out at one that was in the ghetto, and had bars on the doors and windows. Scary!

I have been working at Shoe Carnival

    Pros

Huge growth opportunities, the company is debt free! Opening new stores faster than anyone in the footwear industry. Mr. Lemond definitely knows how to run a company!

    Cons

Starting pay for the General Manager of a store is ridiculous for the amount of responsibilities. There is no such thing as seperation of work and personal life.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your managers better for all the responsibilities they have.
