Santa Monica, CA

Former Employee – worked at ShoeDazzle full-time for more than a year

Pros* Decent building in the Yahoo Center with subsidized gym membership
* One of the more promising start ups in the LA tech scene
* Founding CEO is back at the helm after a disastrous tenure by another CEO

ConsThe company had a lot of potential, but a "professional" CEO was put in place at the end of 2011 that halted the momentum that ShoeDazzle had. Unfortunately, even though the founding CEO has returned, the whole subscription e-commerce model seems to be losing its luster among consumers. That and the fact that upper management isn't capable of adjusting to the changes of the market, I would stay away from joining the company.

Engineering management is OK and there are some decent stuff to work on with Ruby, but that's pretty much it. Seems to be filled with catty personalities and lots of cooks in the kitchen, so to speak.

Advice to Senior ManagementLeave the egos at home before coming into work

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
