Large, stable company to work for.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsTechnology leader, established support structure for career development, ability to relocate internationally. Depth of knowledge very good in most countries. Good training opportunities exist.

ConsCompany politics can be counterproductive at times, very process driven, not very nimble. Frequent global restructuring tends to create a significant amount of inward focus.

    Instrumentation and Control Engineer

Instrumentation and Control Engineer (Former Employee) Lisbon (Portugal)

ProsThe best part of working for Siemens was the fact that they really want you to be better. Inside Siemens there a lot of courses you can take for free in order to be better and learn new things. I had a extensive training for 1 year before i could perform commissionings on my own.

ConsThe business outlook was not the best, i though in 5 years i would be doing the same because there weren't many opportunities to evolve inside Siemens Portugal.

Siemens is overall a great company that takes care of its employees.

Market Research Analyst (Current Employee) Munich (Germany)

ProsSiemens is a great company to work for due to its global sources/connections. Because the company is a large multi-industry conglomerate located in almost every country in the world, employees have the flexibility to grow their career in different paths and contribute toward global issues. At the same time, Siemens does a good job at taking care of its employees (benefits, health, etc.) and making sure employee issues are accounted for. Company training programs are beneficial in keeping employee knowledge up-to-date on new business trends/technology as well.

ConsThe main problem with Siemens has to do with its internal structure and size. Because the company is so large, issues with structural management breakdown. Commands from top management tend to "trickle" their way down the ladder and get misinterpreted (kind of like the child game of "telephone"). The commands tend to change on a daily basis as well. One day the plan is "A," tomorrow the plan is changed to "B." The company also keeps changing its organizational structure. This adds additional costs and employee adjustment.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to stop re-organizing the company every few years. Need to have better inter-company communication at different management levels as well.
