    Pros

    Cons

Management, threat of reorganizations. There was a lack of proper qualifications for my department.

    Advice to Management

Understand the company and the shareholders thoroughly. Empower employees by giving them the tools they need to succeed.

    Pros

The benefits are pretty fantastic. The compensation package seems to be fair and the numerous locations around the United States and world can allow for some relocating while staying within the company.

    Cons

Due to being a large company it is very slow for change to take place and the it may not be significant/impactful change when it occurs. There also seems to be a strong degree of nepotism within the company. In addition to that many people are promoted to incompetence instead of being promoted for their skills. So the attitude seems to be put in your time and you will be promoted as opposed to excelling and showing value to be promoted. The locations generally tend to be in locations that are far outside of city centers, so if you desire to live downtown it is not the most convenient. Employee performance review culture seems to encourage mediocre performance because high performers tend to not get that much higher compensation.

    Advice to Management

Find a new way to motivate employees to encourage high performance. Listen to employees about why they are leaving so you can try to improve the workplace to retain talent and then actually act on this feedback. Listening and talking about issues is good but action must then be taken upon it.

    Pros

Massive company, plenty of room to grow and move around

    Cons

Easy to be silo'd into one function. They don't really move people between functions. Barely trains their employees (even the professionals in the rotational programs) aside from cross-training a from a coworker.

    Advice to Management

Start investing in training and be aware of what the Millennials are looking for in an employer. If you don't change, you will find you have half your staff retiring in the next 10 years and no one to fill any mid-management positions.
