I worked at Siemens as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Very interesting work, in-house manufacturing and testing environment allows for a good learning experience.
This is a great way to get an overview of an engineering operation
    People were generally very nice
Company culture supports ingenuity and new ideas

    Cons

Company is extremely large therefore at times its difficult to get assignments from managers

Tasks at times can be a little bit of busy work

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Smart people and overall good HR practices. Salaries are okay and certain levels get decent bonuses. Will be around forever.

    Cons

Slow to adapt to market changes in certain areas. Lets really mediocre people hang around far too long. Advertising and marketing are engineering-centric versus what archrival GE is doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You let mediocre and incompetent managers stay around far too long. HR is complicit in much of this and this needs to change.

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits, co-workers are for the most part good people, pay is fair.

    Cons

Management can often be clueless with regard to actions that need to be taken. Opportunities are not plentiful and motivation (depending on department) is rather lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More interaction with subordinates, more motivation (not only via monetary means), more dynamism and incentives. A program to help your team members advance upward would also be beneficial, a sincere wish to see them rise instead of stagnate, as stagnation brings about a decrease in performance.

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good pay, very flexible hours and even managed a four day work week for a year or two.

    Cons

Big company so it can move slow. If you don't have the right degree you won't get promoted.

I worked at Siemens as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

Lot's of things to learn , friendly environment

    Cons

They hire interns in large numbers. If they have some kind of training/orientation for them then it will benefit the company as well as the interns in the long run.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The management is good.

I have been working at Siemens

    Pros

Very little micromanaging. As long as the dateline and quality are met, you can get your job done anyway you like.

    Cons

Everyone seems to mind their own business in their cubicle. There are still quite a few colleagues that I still haven't talked to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have more social functions for everyone to get more comfortable with each other

Former Employee - Financial Leadership Development Program Intern
Former Employee - Financial Leadership Development Program Intern

I worked at Siemens as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

FLDP Program had great opportunities to network and work on projects with other interns. I was in a remote location (not headquarters) and had a lot of individualized attention as the only intern there. Company headquarters and Industry headquarters had several interns at both locations. On top of paid internship, they also gave a decent stipend for living and relocation costs

    Cons

Received no help with finding a place to stay even though I was relocating from east coast to west coast
Personally didn't find the work too exciting but I'm also not as interested in finance/accounting as most finance majors are
HR screwed up my paycheck multiple times in the beginning as well as many other interns' checks
    Lots of red tape

I worked at Siemens full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

People, place and pay were all top notch at Siemens. You had a chance to learn and move up as far as possible

    Cons

The product was some what boring. So after a while you yearned for some thing else to work on. Cross company positioning was limited.
