I have been working at Sierra Nevada Corporation full-time

    Pros

I've been able to take advantage of some great growth opportunities. Supportive atmosphere. Above average benefits package. Privately held company makes change and balance a little easier. Incredible flexibility to work with.

    Cons

Some growing pains as the company has transitioned from small to large. I hear some complaints about work life balance but it's never been an issue for me.

    Pros

SNC is a great company with great benefits. The owners really care about their employees, and it shows with compensation, 401k, etc. SNC is a challenging yet fun place to work with a lot of great products that make a significant impact. SNC has great social events throughout the year as well.

    Cons

SNC runs lean and expects a lot out of their employees, this can have a significant impact on work life balance. It's not uncommon to work 70-80 hour weeks.

I worked at Sierra Nevada Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Not only does SNC have an incredible and industry wide unmatched 401k match program, they also have a comprehensive benefit plan that you won't find anywhere else. Their pay is extremely competitive and the room for growth is limitless. You will be working with some of the most intelligent people in the Reno/ Sparks area if you take a job within this company. The human resources department is out of this world, they have multiple employee recognition programs, monthly anniversary parties, birthday parties, as well as many other perks that you won't find elsewhere I have never seen a harder working group of human resources professionals.

It is also a benefit that the owners work so closely with all employees.

    Cons

The hours can get a bit crazy during certain times of the year, but the time is worth it when you think of all the experience you are gaining.

Former Employee - Engineer in Louisville, CO
Former Employee - Engineer in Louisville, CO

I worked at Sierra Nevada Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits: Company matches 150% up to 10% contribution to your 401k. Additionally the health plan was affordable and there were options for career growth such as continuing education.

Great workplace environment: It seemed like everyone who worked here enjoyed the work they were doing. The work was challenging, which kept things interesting. Everybody was friendly and outgoing.

    Cons

Work-life balance favored the work side. There was no sick leave time, which required the use of PTO or telecommuting.

After losing out on a NASA contract there was a sizable reduction in force which was handled poorly by corporate and HR to the point of being disrespectful to their employees.
