    Pros

This is a great company to work for! Good benefits, training and opportunities. Fast paced with the opportunity to learn new things. I've worked on a number of projects since joining SNC in both the gov and commercial side. Really working with the latest technology related to Big Data. Lots of good engineers here that work well together.

    Cons

Would like more insight into what the rest of SNC is doing.

    Pros

-Close To Wright State -Flexible Hours -Decent Pay (Started mid-way through Sophomore year) -Opportunities to learn and gain Certifications -Great Mentorship

    Cons

I am currently the only intern at the Beavercreek Office, and I wish they would hire 2-3 more. It would just be nice to have other workers my age that I could interact and relate to.

    Advice to Management

Please run recruiting events at Wright State University, and University of Dayton. I would love to get involved and I would hope to have people closer to my age and experience work in team with me.

You cannot get in a rut with SNC! If you are seeking a career that is fast paced, with evolving duties and positively shifting priorities, this is the place for you. I am surrounded by stellar performing people. The wealth and breadth of experience enhances every facet of this business. The strength of diversity is evident in the quality of product we provide to our customers. I have cons listed, I have advice below for the management, but I strongly recommend this company to anyone seeking employment in the cyber sector. SNC is a fantastic place to work. The dedication of the employees is a direct reflection of the owners dedication to the business they have spent years growing and nurturing into the jewel that it is today. We are all a great big family of employees. I wouldn't walk into the VPs office just to chitchat with him, but if I wanted to talk to him about something important, I know that his door is open. There is a great value placed on every employee no matter how low the position. I, for one, prize that value and feel honored to work for a company that treats all of it's employees with respect and dignity.

    Cons

The hours can be long, the expectations can change day to day and there is sometimes little to no feedback from management. You can never be sure if you are performing at standards or above them. The feedback is the same. Same line of thought, you are never sure if you have rocked the boat or caused creative waves. It is very difficult to tell if things are running well, poorly or just running.

    Advice to Management

Communicate to subordinates. Good, bad or on par. Let your people know how they are performing and they will rise to meet your expectations! This office is filled with Type A overachievers and pleases. We all want to have the correct answer and to provide the best product to the customer. Let us know how we are doing!

    Pros

Great work environment with unbelievable benefits, including on-site daycare and a ridiculously generous 401K (150% for the first 8% of salary). This is a very demanding job with real implications. As with any small and growing defense contractor, you will be tasked with a monumental amount of work with minimal time. In return you will have amazing hardware to work with, lots of travel to weird and remote places, and the ability to take your work from the drawing board to its first flight and deployment. I have developed a wide breadth of knowledge as well as great depth due to the variation in tasking. To illustrate my point, I have had to fix software bugs while wearing oxygen masks at 28,000 feet in an airplane doing testing. One observation is that the pay will never match the top-end of the private sector. However, I like that I am continually given millions of dollars worth of equipment and wide latitude in executing my job.

    Cons

Work hours are long. Very, very long. Expect to have dry spells were you have the typical 40, but once a project hits crunch time, it will easily ramp up to 50-70 hours a week. In addition, if you are the volunteering type, expect to travel a lot. Like 300+ days a lot. Multiple times, testing has resulted in me spending 30+ hours in a metal CONEX box 200 miles in the middle of nowhere in 110 degree heat. Extremes will occur then normality will return for a while. Luckily vacation time is very generous and they never get in the way of a cool-off period. In addition, that breadth of work experience is because we were laughably understaffed. As an engineer, you have to get comfortable doing your job as well as tech support, networking, and fixing printers, especially while traveling. Finally, I felt like my initial starting salary was pretty low, however the raises have been solid with good bonuses.

    Advice to Management

This is a really unique company with a ferocious underdog mentality. I hope that never changes.

    Pros

Benefits very good. 401(k) employer matching was phenomenal! Flexible hours. Interesting and challenging projects to work on. Good people to work with - hardware engineer, software engineers, program manager, product line director. Easy to communicate with management. Plenty of money available to get necessary tools and supplies. Great suburban location of the office, only 7 miles from home.

    Cons

The branch I worked at experienced downsizing due to failure to win a contract and cutbacks in defense spending. (That's the way it goes when you work for a defense contractor) This made it necessary for me to either transfer out of state or get laid off.

    Advice to Management

Good luck with your endeavors into space. Keep following your dream.

    Pros

Awesome benefits, great people, strong company values, meaningful work, caring co-workers, strong outlook on achieving goals, forward thinking employees, vast improvements with the hiring practices and quick turnaround time from HR/Recruiting!!

    Cons

Growing pains, occasional disconnect from Corporate to the divisions, and the fact that we are a reactive business can make your job a bit stressful when planning.

    Advice to Management

Keep looking ahead while focusing on the day to day operations.
