    I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich full-time

    Pros

    Marit-based raises
    Exceptional 401k
    Upward mobility
    Fast-growing and fast-paced
    Exciting projects

    Cons

    Stressful deadlines
    High employee turnover
    Young average employee age

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You've consistently hired young, recent college graduates. This is good, but should be balanced by hiring experienced workers from elsewhere in industry to decrease turnover.

    Positive Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich

    Pros

Benefits were excellent, There are yearly events to get employees involved with the community. Work from home, inf necessary or bad weather, was not a problem.

    Cons

Some work silos, but those barriers are coming down. Not enough bonuses for people not in management. Some cost saving, process improvement ideas come from under-management, but it is not rewarded.
Salary increases way too small. It does not keep up with inflation or health care increases.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Share the wealth. The salary increases are way, way too small. Way too much outsourcing. There should be a limit on H1B visas.

I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

It is a fairly laid back environment depending on what group you work for, and the overall atmosphere of the company is positive.

    Cons

Sometimes communication between areas is a little unorganized, and there is a lot of equipment that needs to be fixed but you will find that in any large company.

    Pros

Freedom to manage your assignments. They are involved with great philanthropy within the area. Involved with innovation technology within the pharmaceutical industry.

    Cons

Although everyday may be different, the tasks can be repetitive. Often I am overwhelmed with deadlines and projects that I may involved in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go away with process improvement as a way for promotion.

I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Reasonable work hours and trusting supervisors make the work environment a treat every day.

    Cons

The HR department is a train wreck. From hiring, to part-time, and on boarding, there is very little transparency or process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fix your HR department, people should get a better feeling for this great company than what they are being provided on day one.

I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of opportunities to get experience in any facet of the business you would like exposure to. There are lots of bright, engaging people who work here.

    Cons

With the size of the company comes the lack of communication across any global company of similar size. Many projects are slow moving because of the risk aversion of the company. It's unfortunate, but it is understandable so as long as your expectations aren't of a fast-moving entrepreneurial workplace, then it will be less frustrating.
