    Forward thinking

One Company is not always the best model

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The One Company model is a great concept in many areas of the business, though in other areas it could hurt our response time to our customers. It is easier to turn a speed boat than a cruise ship.

    I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich full-time

    Pros

    Great people
    Good advancement opportunities
The company is conservative with change but in these economic times that is a strong point

    Cons

All companies have negatives. Nothing to post here that isn't part of working for any company.

    Pros

Great people, great benefits, great environment to learn and grow. The management seems to really care about their employees and the work environment is always amicable.

    Cons

They may not compensate entry-level positions as well as some other major companies. However, the compensation is still very fair.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I feel that the leadership at Sigma Aldrich does a great job at considering the company employees. I feel fortunate to be a part of the team.

I have been working at Sigma-Aldrich

    Pros

Employees are dedicated to serving customers. Very smart, friendly workforce. Executives are accessible and open. Steady financial performance. Truly diverse workforce...people from all over the world. Good track records of promotions.

    Cons

Typical growing pains for a company looking to be $3-5B player....finding the best organization structure, finding stronger leaders, folding in acquisitions, managing change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to challenge the conservative midwestern roots of the company. Be more aggressive... acquire something BIG!! Move faster is Asia-Pacific.
