Sunnyvale, CA

Former Employee – worked at Silicon Image full-time for more than 7 years

ProsSome very good and interesting new consumer electronics development opportunities. Good growth opportunities in high-end TV. HDMI, MHL are big wins. New management responsive to some problems.

ConsThe work can get repetitive and boring. Once you get a circuit to work you are the "Expert" and keep doing redesigns to port it to a new technology. Little chance for new innovation. Need to break into smartphones to be very successful.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Sunnyvale, CA

Current Employee – been working at Silicon Image

ProsIt has a set of very intelligent and hard working engineers and they do a great job pushing themselves and technology. These same engineers do not plan at all and it is very challenging to get them to plan and do the job they agreed to do.

ConsThese smart engineers do not plan and that comes in the way of execution to plan. Management now is so focussed on execution taht they are not willing to allow evena weeks slip without reacting to the sslip.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want aggressive schedules - one has to at leas be open to the idea of not being able to execute to plan. The only time the teams are able to hit every date on every project is if the team is very conservative and then they hit all the schedules.

By being aggressive and at the same time insisting on on time delivery - teams are being burnt out and they will have atendency to leave.
