    No appreciation for hard work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat benefits some of the lower level managers understand the importance of family

ConsNo growth for woman, all field decisions are made by people that don't work in the field

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Unfriendly, unappreciative supervisors that do not care what you think

    (Former Employee)

ProsSalary and benefits are nice as are the building and gym. There are a lot of good people that work for the company that show genuine appreciation when you do a good job.

ConsA female supervisor that preferred female employees. As a male, I was at a disadvantage through no fault of my own. No matter how hard I worked, she never gave me positive encouragement unless I pried it out of her. When I put in my notice and complained, I was shown the door the next day- no exit interview, no chance to say goodbye to coworkers.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your staff- don't protect managers and VPs just because they've been there awhile. Turnover only hurts the company. I didn't want to leave but felt I had to.

    Learning Experience

    Guest Services Manager (Former Employee)

ProsCorporate reviews your progress in monthly meetings. Managing a team gives you some control of the outcome. Great networking opportunity as you do a lot of cold calling.

ConsArchaic computer systems and number driven results. My day was spent cold calling. Constant changing of policies. High turn over. Your experience at Simon seems to depend on the support of upper management. Our management office was full of bickering and tears. No chance at promotion as nepotism ran rampant. Our management team would slip out during the day to go shopping then wondered why our numbers dropped! Was sold on job as Monday-Friday 9am-5pm yet worked nearly every day until 8p and every weekend due to budget issues. HR was unsupportive when reported.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together! House needs to be cleaned with fresh talent brought in and update your computers already! It isn't 2000. Support field offices as teams instead of groups of individuals.

Overworked and underpaid with Senior Mgmt all positioning for their own advancement and no regard or support for field

    Local Leasing Representative (Former Employee)
    Rapid City, SD

ProsHealth insurance was good but that may be changing

Conscoworkers onsite were malicious and mean-spirited, unethical, and borderline criminal in their conduct. Really bad actors and backstabbers get promoted

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the people in the field

Good entry job, but not meant for life of career.

    Marketing Assistant (Former Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsOpportunities to grow and learn hospitality, marketing, and real estate management.

ConsVery little training. No real support from corporate office. Depending on role you can be easily replaced or moved to another property.

Advice to Senior ManagementInvest in your staff. Especially management.

Misleading job posting and interview for Marketing Administrative Assistant position. Incredibly low salary.

    Marketing Administrative Assistant (Former Employee)

ProsOffice manager is fantastic, incredibly knowledgeable and a huge asset to the operations of this office.

ConsThis position was NOT a marketing position. It is primarily a financial/controller position for the gift cards and entering tenant sales data. The internal job description in the training manual for the position is NOTHING like what was in the job posting or what was discussed in the interview. Upon resigning, I informed my supervisor that if I had seen the correct job description in the posting, I never would have applied for the position. Recommended they rewrite the posting in an accurate way, better explain the requirements of the job during interviews, look for a finance minded individual and not a creative type and consider a different title for the position as well.

The salary for the position is incredibly low for the work load and responsibilities of the job.

    ConsCold, hostile upper management style.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide a fair, caring work environment and employees will be loyal forever.

    Stressful

    Marketing Assistant (Former Employee)
    Topeka, KS

ProsSchedule flexiablity, lots of responsibility, ability to interact with the public

Consstressfull, stressfull, stressfull. You work weekends, and every holiday. Managment does not micromanage, but will be on you like white on rice if you don't meet arbitrary goals, and no recognition for all the work you do.

Overall, good for experience, but don't get too attached.

Disappointed in the c onnection between mid//upper management and their direct reports.

    Office Administrator (Current Employee)
    Indianapolis, IN

ProsDecent benefits, good recognition in the business world.

ConsPoor pay structure, poor communication, antiquated computer programs - none of which communicate with each other, mind numbing amount of procedures and paperwork - many of which are extremely outdated, does not promote independent thinking.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat lower level employees as part of the team, offer a bonus structure for all employees - not just senior level employees, senior mgmt needs to have more contact with all levels of field employees.
