    Marketing Internship

I worked at Simon Property Group as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Promotions, benefits, nice environment, MOST of the staff was very nice. Every office has a bad apple.

    Cons

If you get the wrong mentor it can be an unpleasant experience as it was in my case. Nothing to do with the company but just the person that was suppose to "mentor me" She was not ready or mature enough to handle interns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just to make sure that the right person is in charge of interns.

I have been working at Simon Property Group part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great relationship with the tenants, and a wonderful upper management. As long as I am able to find out what was going on each day, I have had no problem figuring things out.

    Cons

I wouldn't necessarily say that there are many cons, as I can see why the company do what they do, but oftentimes you can be caught between doing the right thing and following the book by the rules, which can cause misunderstandings amongst management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would be good to have Guest Services Representatives be able to rate their immediate bosses, because it's hard to feel like you're a part of a team if all you get is criticism from one manager, and a rightful mix of praise and criticism from others (i.e. one manager just sees the negatives and never acknowledges good work to certain employees).

    Pros

Large company. Hasn't downsized or been badly affected by the economy. Doing very well in the stock market. They treat their full-time employees well. Compensation and benefits are great.

    Cons

I work hard and my job is never compete. My boss is very difficult to work for. Having to meet last years sales goals is hard but my goals increase every year. I love the company I work for but feel I cannot transfer to a different position since I do not have a higher education than a GED. I have no way to attend college or even night classes since I am on call all the time I am salary and work well over 50 hours a week.

I worked at Simon Property Group

    Pros

Innovative, well-adapted with smart leaders. They really know what they are doing and would be concerned a well-oiled machine in my book.

    Cons

Ownership likes to yell a lot. I could hear them a floor below. Although just an intern, was pretty surprised about how they let me in on a lot of projects and development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing but don't get too held down by debt. This is a tough world out there, and retail isn't exactly the best place to be - unless you get it for a steal.
