I have been working at Sirius Computer Solutions full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

lots of clients, plenty of travel

    Cons

Bonus program is obscure at best. It will always be a complete surprise what you get and why. Usually, considerably less than you expect.

    Revolving door of techs.

Pre-sales and post-sales have little contact. The implementers usually walk into a complete surprise

Hard-core IBM to the detriment (and derision) of all other areas.

I have been working at Sirius Computer Solutions full-time

    Pros

Good pay, great upfront bonuses, large company with decent resources

    Cons

Much turmoil, at least in immediate region. Large amount of hiring over the last two years without regard for Strategy or Account planning or distribution. Reps beginning to squabble and fight over territory. Communication extremely poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to Business model and Sales execution and focus on legitimate competitors. Grow business from new customers and provide clearer Value statement. Vendor Sell sheet is getting to be watered down with too many Vendors.

I have been working at Sirius Computer Solutions full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Flexible work environment with strong focus in building relationships with manufacturers products that work with good support.

    Cons

Inner company communication and backend process is broken. Sales and technical engineering teams do not communicate. 4 tear sales model does not work in all markets. Relationships with customers is diminishing with the length of time for quotes and inaccuracy.

Little collaboration on opportunities between product specialists and delivery engineering. Work ethic can be improved in offices to work as a team instead individually.

I worked at Sirius Computer Solutions

    Pros

Just purchased MSI. Now a $1B company; fairly stable. Sirius is the largest IBM business partner.

    Cons

No work-life balance. Fast growing company is experiencing growing pains in building up the support system for running the corporation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair; if an employee has worked 90 hours for 7 months, when they ask for a day off, compromise.

Management does not follow up with what they say. Promises were made during compensation plan and bonus, but not what is paid out to the employer. Lack of communication and understanding between management and staff. Resistent to change, difficult sales structure with comissions split between different people whether they are part of the terrirtoy or not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Sirius Computer Solutions

    Pros

The company was a nice place to work for a hunter type representative. If you worked hard, you had the opportunity to make money. Not guaranteed, but good potential...

    Cons

Company just switched to a straight commission no salary type of sales plan, which is very unattractive to hunter reps. If no residual account base, making any type of substantial income is very difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change plans based upon types of sales representatives. If straight commissions it will be very difficult for the company to bring on and sustain hunter reps for long.

I have been working at Sirius Computer Solutions

    Pros

Sirius is a place that values and compensates top performers. The engineering talent at Sirius is exceptional...iron sharpens iron, and that holds true among the engineering team. Sirius also has a very broad base of customers spread around the country. There are some very good people on the leadership team at Sirius, with a real emphasis on continual improvement.

    Cons

Sirius is driven 100% by financials, and while it is a for-profit institution, there is a laser focus on short-term financial return. As someone coming from an acquired company, it is amazing how Sirius continues to grow with very minimal investment in process and infrastructure. The back office is an absolute mess, and things that used to be easy and work well are now broken and difficult to get done. I used to love the focus at my legacy company on innovative solutions and an exceptional experience, with financial success being a byproduct. Today, financials are primary with solutions and experience being necessary to accomplish the primary goal...subtle but important.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please hire a COO to fix the organization and back office infrastructure...Sales controls the company, yet sales by its nature is focused only on short-term. Continue to invest in new technologies and the engineering organization, as that investment is the path to long term success.
