Front line employees completely dispensible in this company.

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Albuquerque, NM

ProsThe casual dress was nice. Benefits are decent, not great but decent. Nice facility, people who trained me were friendly.

ConsMost campaigns aren't run by people who know what they're doing, but by people who are good at kissing butts. Operations managers and above were nearly invisible to the front line employees. Work station computers are kept in reprehensible condition with many not working properly or at all.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house in the Albuquerque Directv management. They are incompetent.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Only use this as an entryway job, try to get out as soon as possible.

    Member Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Oak Ridge, TN

ProsI enjoyed speaking to members over the phone, and I was surrounded by co-workers who were wonderful people. Immediate management (called "coaches") were always pleasant to work with. They often do games or promos, encouraging us to try to pick up our stats in exchange for gift-cards, certificates, pizza parties, or other goodies.

ConsThe problem came with higher management: both HR and upper management seemed to be disconnected with the lower corporate culture, neither participating nor sympathizing with issues that swept across the floor (across all agents). They only look at your stats (which is why they would okay promotions), but in the end, if you didn't get your stats up, they would demean you. Coaches that have low stats would be told "You can sign this agreement to say you'll bring your stats up, or you can fill out this McDonald's application." That was the kind of approach upper management had to pretty much anything.
They also have low pay ($9/hr for a customer service position; the same job with another company could earn you $15/hr) and a poor excuse for a health insurance program. Thus, a lot of people get sick, but they're not forgiving on illness either. Sometimes a doctor's note isn't enough, and they won't let you back into work until your doctor finds enough time to fill out paperwork.
Finally, front-end support is extremely lacking for some departments (called "campaigns"). Some of them have only 1-2 weeks of training without any introduction to the information systems they'll be using, while others have a complete 1.5 month training course with presentations, speakers, visitors and more. If you're going to get a job there, do your research (talk to the smokers outside on break), and get into the right campaign if you can help it.

Advice to Senior ManagementCoaches: You guys deal with so much trying to keep us employed and trying to get the numbers up to acceptable levels for upper management, while trying to keep the atmosphere fun, or at least not oppressive.
Upper Management: See past the numbers and try to see the people that are on the floor. Yeah, the numbers are important, but an employee's health is worth much more.

    Disappointing

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNice people to work with. Fun enviroment.

ConsNo pay raises, hourly cap is 12.50, they do not care about seniority (tenured employees treated the same as new hires as far as vacation requests, scheduling etc)

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to keep your experienced people.

Communication from bosses is not helpful, and they will pass the buck as often as possible.

    Call Receiver (Current Employee)
    Las Vegas, NV

ProsThe best reason to work for this company is because they do offer work at home opportunities, and you can make friends and usually your co workers are more helpful than the ones who are supposed to be helping you.

ConsThe communication between employee and employer is next to impossible, you have to send 20 emails to get 1 answer. The pay is no where near worth what you put into the job~

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are so many reasons you need to figure out what the right hand is doing so the left hand will know also. There are to many bosses and not enough workers, yet you continue to pile on more duties onto your employees and without a penny increase in pay for doing ten times more work. I now have first hand experience that your company should be ashamed of how they treat employees. I will tell the same thing to the campagin that I work for if I get a chance. Needs so much improvement and also need to increase pay in order to keep the good employees you do have from having to apply for welfare just to eat. Shameful simply shameful after all I heard before my training and what I have seen and experienced since what a differnce. I will research my next WAH adventure more than I did this one for sure. Screen your coaches and 'SODs they are flat RUDE, some of them not all.

My experience at Sitel in Starkville was not good. The supervisors do not speak correct grammar correct to be in charge.

Proswork around school schedule every semester

ConsNot enough of diverse for coaches because the same race is hired for supervisors positions.

Used and abused except for Las Vega sites!

    Senior Payrol Specialist (Former Employee)
    Nashville, TN

ProsYou can work as much overtime ad you would like which is a good thing because after 4+ years without a raise u have to pay bills sone how. And that's at the corporate office where the rich keep getting richer and the middle class start sliding down the food chain.

ConsManagement does not care about keeping employees happy..just abusing the ones they have until they can't take it anymore and move on.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to what employees r telling about their managers instead of hearing what you want to hear.

If you've heard the saying: the less said the better--well, sometimes saying nothing is best of all.

    Msr (Current Employee)
    Oak Ridge, TN

ProsThe people are generally great, and a lot of them deserve a whole lot better than they are getting.

ConsMoney is the biggest. And then there is the come-here-go-away management approach. As one employee (former) once put it, "I've never known a place that tried so hard to run off its employees."

Advice to Senior ManagementI would, but I consider this an exercise in futility.

    Poor retention and employee relations

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFlexibleish hours. Training team was very informative and tried hard to give you the skills you will need.

ConsThey got caught making people work off the clock and ask for duties that are increasingly difficult and taxing with very little if any financial compensation

Advice to Senior ManagementStop cherry-picking management from those that are well liked but don't know their job from a hole in the ground and promote from within. Pay what they are worth not bottom of the barrel wages

Run as Fast as you can

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNone, there are many work from home jobs

ConsNo flexibility for WAH, AAA account will work you like a hebrew slave because of under-staffing, Will not honor your set schedule, change your lunch/break w/o you knowing/always mandatory OT with out notification/ don't be off on tues & come back next day ot is there without notification and refuse to abide by the federal labor laws in your state regarding OT. will retaliate by handing out occurences even if you have PTO, No vacation as promise in contract, no room or opportunity for advancement as promise, Once you're in WAH ERS you will not move any farther you theirs! If Sitel is a good place to work I have yet to see it. No value of Agents, no Integrity
