    Pros

Great benefits and salaries, stable financially. Nice place to work if you can stomach the politics and the clicks.

    Cons

Management has a "good ole boy" mentality. Political animals make life pretty miserable. No work life balance, an average of 60 hour week. Sheep make excellent employees, independent thinkers or "outside of the box" employees don't seem to make it.

    Advice to Management

Stop drinking the Kool Aid and start thinking more about how to mentor and develop relationships with your employees.

  2. This company seems like a nice place to work but politics are brutal.

    Pros

This is a large company with nice benefits. Prestigious clients and projects. Good experience if you are line staff. Some people are really willing to mentor those coming up.

    Cons

There are a lot of politics here. It may not seem that way during the honeymoon period of early employment but they are there. Salaries do not keep pace with competitors.

    Advice to Management

Stop the favoritism of staff who are good at politics but may not have the best functional skills. Be more open in communication.

  3. No balance between field workers and office pukes

    Pros

    Best paid in the industry
    good benefits
    fun company parties
lots of junk you take take home after a project is done

    Cons

If you work in the field, prepare to be overworked and under appreciated, especially compared to the people who get to work in the office. They will work 30-40 hrs a week (salary) while all field workers will work 50-70 hrs (salary)
They will not care about your family. You will work weekends and holidays for no additional money or days off, while people in the office will get extra time off. ("Office will be closing at 2pm on Friday for Memorial Day")
Their human resources department is unorganized, uneducated, and unprofessional to a criminal degree.

    Advice to Management

Stop living like kings while looking down on the surfs.

    Pros

Stable company, Good Benefits, pretty good work-life balance

    Cons

Not a lot of room for growth right now

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes to what's going on in the office and out in the field! There are many employees who are disgruntled right now due to the way we're being treated. There are some people who work really hard and others who barely do anything, yet we get paid the same and they never get in trouble because management either doesn't care or doesn't pay attention. Even when we complain, it seems to fall on deaf ears.

  6. Helpful (1)

Very political environment with little respect shown to non-management, non-technical personnel.

    Pros

Internationally, company has an outstanding reputation and is great for your resume. Company provides excellent benefits, is environmentally aware, and is beneficially involved in the respective location's local community. Company is very competitive in the construction arena which provides a reasonably comfortable level of job security. Company's stated, corporate employment policies are exceptional.

    Cons

In some locations, stated policies exist only on paper while a "good, old boy" environment remains from the previous ownership. Non-management, non-technical personnel are treated with little respect and given no defining career paths. Salaries/bonuses for this group are very mediocre (or less) and long hours/weekends are the norm. Management arrogance is encouraged and perks are given to a select few. Standards are uneven, i.e., some get training, some do not, some are recognized for their dedication, some are not, etc...very uneven atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Enforce corporate policies in ALL locations, including, if necessary, removing management personnel who do not adhere to policies which ensure fair treatment for all. The bottom tier of personnel is your foundation; if you don't respect and encourage your foundation, eventually your building will implode.

    Pros

Good benefits, employer flexible if time off needed

    Cons

Seems the way a non-productive employee is dealt with is via promotion out of the department, while those who work hardest are trapped in the same jobs with no advancement, compensation or promotion.

    Pros

The company is all over the world.

    Cons

There are politics involved when you want a promotion. You have to be really close with the VP in order to get bonus at the end of the year. Treat employees as if they are worthless and could be replaced.

    Advice to Management

Try giving the working man a little more credit.
