  • At Store Manager level, there's not much room for advancement within the company unless you are willing to relocate to California (in 4 reviews)

I have been working at Skechers U.S.A. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Passionate customers and staff.....fast paced, set up for failure, no long term human assets plan. Managers will run through walls for their teams and customers, no appreciation from home office.

    Cons

High stress, many corporate staff overjobbed and under qualified, no professionalism, yelling and tantrum throwing childish leadership. Highly irresponsible and dysfunctional on the borderline of discrimination.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to hire on experience not skin color or beauty.

    Pros

The people you work with are usually very fun people to be around and the discounts for you and your family are pretty good

    Cons

There's favoritism everywhere and nothing is ever done if a friend of the manager does something wrong crappy hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get off your butt and be productive and don't hire your friends

    Pros

    Footwear discount, great corporate team

    Cons

Stressful, bad District leadership, shoes hurt

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I basically got fired because I had a relationship with another Skechers employee in a different store in a different borough. I was given ridiculous expectations (i.e keeping my store clean but we cleaned every single day and the prior SM hadn't cleaned in 5 years) and supposedly this led to me being let go. I should have filed a law suit for discrimination!

    Pros

    The shoes are really comfortable.

    Cons

It's all politics and drama. Not worth your time. They also don't give raises, so when you're hired that's all you'll ever get. You'll also never get a bonus. As a store manager, your store could have one of the highest comp increases IN THE COMPANY and it's still not good enough. Also stop copying other people shoes! They also don't invest any money in their stores or in technology. The stores are falling apart and they don't even have email.

    Pros

    What ever nothing at all

    Cons

They do not work with your schedule. They expect your life to revolve around them. They forced me to quit. I was a dedicated employee. I would never work for this company again. And would never refer anyone to skechers

I have been working at Skechers U.S.A. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice co-workers in late 20 's to early 30's. Nice office at a very nice location.

    Cons

No leadership whatsoever. High turnover rate, they don't expect people to stick around for too long. No Advancements within the company. You can tell even the managers are already complacent with there jobs and title and know they can't move up. This leads to unhelpful, careless, horrible bosses. Unrealistic expectation to the ratio of pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give workers more incentives to work for you. The end is in sight as soon as you start there.

I worked at Skechers U.S.A. full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent product, with a founder who is a visionary leader.
Incredible marketing achievements in support of the product.
Very fluid organization with an ability to quickly react to the market or business needs.
Strong Merchant leader in the Retail division.
You will be exposed to, and learn from an environment of playing hardball corporate politics.

    Cons

The retail division has dysfunctional, short tempered, leaders with poor listening skills. The group is peppered with people that nurture instances of nepotism, politics, and sexism- unfortunate but true. Four out of five days of the week you will hear people yelling loudly in meetings, and over time it wares down the propensity of the group to have open communication and create an environment of teamwork. Lot's of politics, not enough focusing on the root of problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They know their issues, but fail to make lasting efforts to implement the needed changes.

    I worked at Skechers U.S.A.

    Pros

    None-Fullerton area is really nice.

    Cons

Skx Retail Division is stuck in the 80s...that's when Bob Greenberg was bankrupting his first company L.A gear remember? The same result will happen here over the next decade as the company refuses to invest in any technology not even email! H.R is not effective and are discussed terribly throughout org. They are so disconnected focused on recruiting good looking 'branded' people who have zero business acumen. Stores are not supported, managers forced to work while clocked out for lunch. 50 boxes of transfer product showing up out of nowhere daily...Retail Division needs an overhaul. Regional Manager won a camaro from the company she proudly flaunts while employees struggle to feed their families. Start the firing with the Director of Stores then work your way down!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pursue licensing agreements with partners who can drive traffic..I'm thinking US tour De France team sponsorship.

    I worked at Skechers U.S.A.

    Pros

I worked for this company for 2 years and I honestly cannot think of a single positive thing I could say about this company.

    Cons

horrible hours, minimal pay, unrealistic expectations, awful support from district manager and even less from corporate, if your not a well endowed woman you will not move up. I used to sit outside the store before I had to open the doors and cry because I hated that job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Give up and start over.

    Pros

    good discount on shoes

    Cons

Retail division is poorly run and there is constant turn over because of the abuse. Miscommunication happens everyday because the retail president demands things to happen instantly but then constantly changes his mind and then blames it on you for not listening. Your quality of life will be destroyed because of all the stress and all the yelling that is directed at everyone - you will spend everyday trying to stay out of the line of fire but it is useless because you will get screamed at and told you are worthless. This place is run by fear and not by respect and they have no dedication to retain their good employees and they have lost a lot of quality people. Run as far as you can from this place and look elsewhere, it's not worth it!!
