I have been working at SkyWest

    Pros

You get to fly to some amazing Ski towns. You work connection flights, so you get to travel to a lot of cool areas (nonrev) if you are lucky enough to get a seat.

    Cons

The company does not but employees first and even pressures employees not to talk to Unions.

I have been working at SkyWest full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

there is much to learn in this company great people to work with easy to move up or move around, great benefits and flexibility.

    Cons

NIGHT SHIFT!!! Slowly takes your life away. the pay is not great.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

the quality of the work that you get from the mechanics depends much on the way they are treated an most importantly the way they are Paid. Pay the mechanics more without them there would be no aircraft in the air.!

I have been working at SkyWest full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Was a great place to work until they cut wages to lease new aircraft. Free flight benefits. Great coworkers.

    Cons

Lost Customer Service positions to United and then lost ramp contract bid to Simplicity. New company takes over officially on December 4. Merry Christmas Denver.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Supervision is lacking, need to pay more attention to employees. Give them that thank you, great job. Once in awhile goes a long way.

    Pros

It's an enjoyable job for single people who want to travel but don't mind not making much money during their first year

    Cons

Need to be a people pleaser and be okay with not being able to please people all the time

I have been working at SkyWest full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you like to travel, the travel benefits will be wonderful for you. The company is full of nice people and teamwork amongst peers is usually great. Bad employees don't last long, so you are left with hard workers! There is a fair amount of vacation time and shift trades are a possibility.

    Cons

Low pay, recent pay cuts to boot. Lack of communication between management and staff. Tough schedules with minimum flexibility. You will likely be working early in the morning or late at night. Waking up at 2 AM was not unusual for me. Also, you will be constantly exposed to the elements. This means moving heavy things around in -10F, for 10 hours a day, which makes it very easy to injure yourself or get sick. Company does not provide proper clothing for cold weather. Ramp work is very challenging at times. Be prepared to cover the job of multiple people by yourself. Company is known for being short staffed. Can be very stressful.

I worked at SkyWest full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

its all about benefits, flight, health, medical and vision. Seniority skyrockets almost every year or every bid due to mass hiring.

    Cons

compensation is low for the cost of living in the bay area. They hire almost anyone for supervisor position with or without experience makes you wonder if they have standards for leadership positions. Sups and Managers enjoy power tripping

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

you might want to subject your leadership team for random drug testing you'll be surprised with the results
