I have been working at SkyWest full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Flight benefits can be good with planning. Can swap shifts with others in order to get time off. Ability to work lots of overtime if needed but hardly ever required.

    Cons

Stuck on weekends to start out. There can be lots of complaining from co-workers for things that aren't that big of deal causing drama.

I worked at SkyWest part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The level of professionalism by all of my colleagues was exceptional. Excellent training program.

    Cons

Employees are paid below the industry standard. The employees who are able to thrive typically have financial support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand that when staff members are not paid a living wage (acceptable for the cost of living) morale is diminished.

I have been working at SkyWest full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Travel benefits, flexibility, self guided daily routine.

    Cons

    Long hours, seniority based system

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being able to work less hours would save company money through, less sick calls, overall moral of employees, and less senior pay rates met. Part time should be available to more inflight staff.

I have been working at SkyWest full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Amazing travel benefits on multiple carriers. Great way to get your foot in the door and get a full time (non reserve) schedule quickly. Lots of movement for transfer opportunities to other bases. Work with different people every week. No direct boss!

    Cons

Low pay, lots of downtime, away from home, working on small aircraft can be challenging, working alone. Reserve can be a challenge due to high rent cost and no flexibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Up the reserve staffing for better quality of life for employees. Allow more drops in skedplus.

I have been working at SkyWest full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You are not just a number fewer employees in a base, you get to know most of them. You get a line faster than mainline. Variety and shorter flights. The best Regional Airlines in the market. You get flight benefits on several other airlines.

    Cons

They run lean, so you work quite a bit. Which can make it hard to get time off. More conservative so you must follow that train of thought to dress and behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more flexible, work with your employees to make it a win win especially when it comes to time off.

I worked at SkyWest full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The culture at SkyWest is top notch, you won't find better people than at Skywest. Very down to earth & care about the individual, from customer service/ramp employees to corporate level(both of which I worked) I felt honored as an employee.

    Cons

The cons about the airline industry have nothing to do with SkyWest- but just the nature of the business... It's all about seniority when it comes to scheduling- so plan in working nights, weekends & holidays for a few years if you are in the customer service/ramp end. Corporate positions obviously have better schedules. It's the beast of the airline industry but worth all the benefits of the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up morale of your employees with encouragement, recognition & support the individual. It's easy to feel like just another employee - but I have had a few SkyWest managers that cared about me a little more & that made all the difference !

    Pros

culture focused on employees, consistently successful financial results compared to industry norms, flexible work environment

    Cons

margins are slim and pay is low, health benefits are very expensive for such a large company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

at some point, wage/salary can no longer be overcome by other benefits/perks/consideration
