I worked at Snagajob full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the people there are great! Lots of good fun!

    Cons

Too many developers and operations people with huge egos but not the experience to back themselves up!! Too many employees complaining and being part of the problem and not being part of the solution.
Old, awesome culture is now DEAD!! Too many young inexperienced managers making bad decisions, backstabbing and politicking.

I have been working at Snagajob

    Pros

Everyone that works there is almost always upbeat. Everyone has the outer crust of a great person. The company changes directions every week, and veterans flourish, new employees get frusterated and either quit early, or ride it out until they can't take it anymore.

    Cons

Territories literally make or break your experience here. You can walk in, sit down, and...o look! you've just hit your quota for the month! Or you can work your butt off, and only scrape by, or be talked down to by management that your sales skills need refining.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't turn your back on brands and reps in those roles. Their failure is also your failure. Veterans play a huge part in the success of this company, but you must know it takes years, not months, to build that stability. Don't expect a faster ramp just...because.

I worked at Snagajob full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Younger, hard working teams that promote social atmosphere and volunteerism. Lots of events and opportunities to feel good.

    Cons

Long hours and a lack of leadership on most levels. External spin of amazing place to work with awards, but behind the scenes a lot of burn out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a clear plan before you veer left then right.

    I worked at Snagajob

    Pros

    1. I think there are some genuinely great people there
    2. The benefits were pretty good from what I remember

    Cons

    1. I had a horribly rude manager experience during a team meeting
    2. My impression of the general morale there is that the people are not happy
    3. The culture preach is way overblown...its more of a fabricated culture than an organic true one...that's my view

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

this company needs some serious overhaul...I wasn't there long enough to really say what all needs done...

I have been working at Snagajob full-time

    Pros

Fun culture, competitive compensation and strong CEO

    Cons

SnagAJob.com continues to hold on to and even promote managers who kill employee morale and ultimately the complete vision that the founder has for the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Why SnagAJob continues to hold on to some of these folks in management is one of the secrets of the universe. Listen to your employees and the feedback that they have provided. All the consultants in the world will not change the fact that some of these Managers and Directors should not be managing.

    I worked at Snagajob

    Pros

Great culture, solid and diverse benefits.

    Cons

Rampant burn-out, not enough employee development and support coupled with too-eager attitude to toss people out, mind-boggling bad decision making (and decision reversing), zero collaboration between different teams, cocky and ineffective middle managers, and way too much attention paid to consultants (if you've written a book and had something/anything to do with a successful dot com on the west coast you too can tell this company what to do!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to lead, not just build culture; stop the mindless acceptance of outside consultant's advice; build a culture around employee trust and respect rather than frat house beer, antics, and slides.

I have been working at Snagajob

    Pros

    Fun, exciting, engaging atmosphere
Management has a lot of things right such as the culture and physical environment
Management definitely has a strong resume
    Benefits are great

    Cons

Management at Snagajob is chasing down the newest trends without having a solid foundation Management is secretive in a scary ways at times instead of being upfront (Big Brother)
Despite the culture Snagajob does not know how to handle employees where it 'counts'
Management does not seem to keep promises it makes to employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Get you processes in order
Be careful of your advisers/consultants: they don't always know better than employees
Move the office out of Glen Allen and your probability of success should increase

    I worked at Snagajob

    Pros

Benefits and salary are competitive and the casual dress code

    Cons

    Work-life balance does not exist
Does not live up to the internal values that are preached on the walls
Do not be fooled by the casual dress, the environment is cut-throat
Favoritism from middle management means there's a lot of room for unfair decision-making
    Unhealthy and unbalanced company
    Little room for career growth
