A very demanding job that can be very rewarding if you "sell out", and care to have no life outside of work.

    I worked at Snap-on full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

There are a lot of perks, although the hours worked are overwhelming at times. As long as sales are up there is little pressure from above. If you devote yourself to this it can be rewarding.

    Cons

Hours...there is a lot of pressure from above the moment sales take a dip. I was treated with harsh words from my superiors when things didn't go as they expected.

    Pros

Great company to work for; consistent training and new challenges on a daily basis. Set schedule, great pay for the work performed.

    Cons

Franchisees are constantly dumping on us, blaming us for their own lack of knowledge. Also, they recently let 5 people go on a workforce reduction without any warning or effort to move them within the company. Lack of any mobility within the company also really hurts.

Current Employee - Account Manager in New Braintree, MA

I have been working at Snap-on full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Work from home, flexibility, ability to make own schedule, great brand recognition. 401k, pension plan and stock buying options.

    Cons

Need to improve technology tools available to sales reps. Recent changes to the commission structure do not support the current business trends or market outlook. Sales people wear too many hats which takes away from selling time. Compensation is 60 to 75k depending on territory. The car allowance compensation policy need to be restructure to reflect the job demands, gas prices, wear and tear on vehicle. The feeling among employees is that we no longer work for Snap-on or our to provide solutions to our customer needs; we now work for Wall Street.

I worked at Snap-on full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Tons of overtime, money to be made if you're willing to put in the time.

    Cons

Have to start with a temp agency, getting hired is very difficult, as they rarely hire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to hire on more full-time employees, and you will have a happier warehouse staff. It's very discouraging to do the same work for a lot less money than the select few that are hired.

Company preaches its mission and values but doesn't follow it's own policies. Bad ethics in my opinion.

    Pros

Great company, decent benefits, good people (mostly)..

    Cons

Picks and chooses who rules apply to. Corporate HR has some unethical people working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Why have policies in place when you don't follow them for all employees? (Even when the policy states that you do.)
