I have been working at Snap-on as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

    Employees were very nice
Interns were invited to all work functions and got holiday gifts
Depending on your degree, there were always full-time job openings

    Cons

Interns didn't receive perks like FT (flu shots, benefits, etc.)
    Not always opportunities to grow

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It was a great office environment where the employees were all friendly. Everyone would smile and wave when walking down the hall and would always be willing to help you out.

I have been working at Snap-on

    Pros

Excellent benefits, Guaranteed 40 hours a week, Awesome coworkers, Pay not bad, Lot of OT.

    Cons

Hard to get ahead in the company, Once your hired in the company you can't bump a temporary employee from 1st shift to 2nd. I was hired on 1st shift and that's why I took the job because I wanted 1st shift but about 6 months after getting hired into the company I got transferred to 2nd and that is not the shift I had put in for and it also took me 18 months to get hired into the company. I was a temporary employee for 18 months. Also it seems hard for some management to say Job Well Done to their employees.

    Pros

Great culture. They care about their associates. VERY long term employment opportunities. Qaulity management from the Top to the Bottom.

    Cons

Tough work/life balance at times. Long term employees make it hard to advance to higher levels.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep pushing forward. People should be proud that they work for a great company with high quality products.

I have been working at Snap-on full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Things get really pretty good around here about 8 years ago when the board kicked out the good old boys and put in some people and processes that really made the company successful. The environment is nice, although the people are not ones I would hang out with, but that is because they are not my type, not because they are bad. They are very good with flex time and they don't make you think that you are doing a bad job if you need to stay home to tend a sick kid. Benefits are pretty good and pay is good too.

    Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement. Most people who work here tend to stick around a long time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay for employee education. Even if it is not in the employees area of work, it can make them feel better about themselves and can also make that person more valuable even if they education does not directly impact.

I have been working at Snap-on full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Since the current management has taken over, all facilities have been upgraded tremendously with emphasis on safety and convenience. Management gives quarterly reviews to all employees and insight into the business. Benefits are good including a good 401k with match, ESP, and health plans.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement or emphasis on giving employees a chance to move to other divisions or departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start more collaboration between the divisions including the movement of employees between the divisions.

    I worked at Snap-on

    Pros

A lot of help and tools (no pun intended) at your disposal to help grow your business.

    Cons

Getting strated and settled is a major undertaking. The company does not not provide important internal or external contacts so it is very much learn as you go.

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
