    Pros

Great people to work with, they make all days enjoyable to come to work. Great learning experience.

    Cons

Low pay for the work that is done that requires a fair bit of knowledge. Long work days.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay to summer students and have them all doing more inclusive tasks to feel more as part of the team.

    Pros

Great employees to work with directly. Became very close with full timers in my years of employment.

    Cons

There is absolutely zero communication between managers within store level, and higher. Everyone is confused as to what they want and will tell you seventeen different things to do at once. In order to run a proper business communication needs to be evident and Sobeys managers do not provide this.

    Advice to Management

Work within each department for minimum a month or two, see how intensive the work is, then give us time lines as to how long we have per day to complete the assigned tasks.

    Pros

Sobeys is a great place to grow, learn and progress. The culture is super friendly and working here feels like you're among family, not colleagues.

    Cons

Being a large company, as an employee you have to push for what you want. Do not expect management to set clear paths for you. But if you know what you want, and work hard, you will achieve!

    Advice to Management

Everyone is very busy, people work very hard but more emphasis has to be placed and time made to engage employees properly and more frequently.

    Pros

Management was extremely accommodating for extra-curricular activities, and would even support them by letting student sports teams host car washes in the parking lot etc. Flexible work hours. Opportunity for growth within the organization; I worked as a cashier for over a year before I was transferred to produce.

    Cons

When hours were cut, students were always the first ones to lose out. Sometimes the schedule was confusingly laid out. Slightly low pay for the amount of time that I worked there. In my experience, older employees would occasionally blame issues on students rather than take the fall themselves.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing - your staff trust and appreciate you.

    Pros

Excellent co workers Excellent manager and direct team Laid back and comfortable environment Sensible Policies Decent pay Great opportunity for young and new workers

    Cons

Upper management a boys club of very corporate people who promote their personal friends and don't do any work many customers downright nasty at times, often trying to weasle their way into getting free stuff using policies and ad laws that we knew better. problems with theft and quick change artists trying to find new or stressed cashiers to victimize mind numbingly boring

    Advice to Management

Pay raises and promotions need to be less stingy. Have heard of people being shorted vacation pay or overtime. Upper management needs to actually work, a store manager only being there once a week but getting paid salary is not ok.
