    Pros

Modern technology, fairly organized teams and road map

    Cons

Extremely averse to creating or back-filling positions, obsessively focused on cost savings to maximize shareholder profit, very little control below executive level.

    Advice to Management

Allow your VPs and directors to create and fill positions and promotions. Offer something to retain your valuable employees. Focus on quality of service and product, or you will find yourself a poor performer with very little knowledge retained among remaining employees 10 years out.

    Pros

    Consistent Employment
Fair Pay in line with what I do as a Dietary Aide

    Cons

    Cliquish Environment
One employee constantly complains to GM about co-workers, criticizes night shift workers and generally makes for an uncomfortable work environment. Have discussed with GM numerous times with no change.
    Poor communication from GM
Poor policies resulting in sub standard patient reviews, am branded a malcontent for making logical suggestions on how to improve our unit.
Was infected with a virus due to lack of timely warning by Sodexo and hospital as a result was sick over a weekend and due to hospital protocall missed 3 days of work. Had to use 3 vacation days to cover time due to their negligence. Considering legal action.
Being listed on Safety Meeting reports that I had not attended.
Pressed to purchase safety shoes while others were not.
Being scheduled to work the more physically demanding K2 position for my entire tenure while another employee was given K1 due to a sense of entitlement. Whenever I approached the GM with concerns they were dismissed with a sarcastic comment

    Advice to Management

I'd love to share my concerns and ideas on how to make our unit a more successful and profitable one. Spent majority of my career evaluating processes and how to improve unit performance, albeit in the automotive industry. GM seemed to blow off my interest because I hadn't been in Food Services. Regardless of industry, it's about maximizing your assets and profitability. Ours is and under performing unit and I'm not surprised! After 2 and a half years, I'm beat down and disgusted.

    Pros

Salary, relocation, advancement, benefits and variety of positions.

    Cons

Prejudiced, shady, dishonest general managers. If you don't go along with these actions, they work to get you booted.

    Advice to Management

Learn good people management and use it. Treat the workers with more respect. Have all of the supplies/help they need to do their job right.

They give you time need it for personal issues, flexible hours.

    Cons

Management don't keep open door policy on disputes, supervisors retaliate on complaints, they cut you hours on premeditation.

    Advice to Management

Comply with the Company Policy on Dispute Resolution. Train managers on Proper Human Resources Guidelines and instruct them on no retaliation Policies.

A lot of work to do if you are a good worker. None of the managers know anything and expect to deal with lots of bad attitudes

    Pros

Schedules are flexible for those attending high school or college, provided a written notice is given in a timely manner.

Compensation is rather generous compared to most entry level restaurant positions in the area.

Great way of connecting with the community. It's rather surprising how many familiar faces you may come across while on the clock.

    Cons

Positively little to no room for job growth or future career development.

Work environment can be VERY stressful during meal services and could prove to be too much for weak minded employees

Several managers play favorites and often ignore your work until a complaint is filed regarding your dining room.

    Advice to Management

    Your workers are important!

Please let them no at any given opportunity how much you appreciate and respect them. Don't just blow off employee appreciation week simply because you forgot. Make sure each individual worker also gets their fair share of time in the spotlight during mandatory performance reviews.

    Pros

The pay was more than minimum wage, and most of my coworkers were pretty great.

    Cons

Even when I had no time to take a 30 minute lunch (for my 6 hour shift) it was still taken from my check. Management was terrible -- sometimes I had the lead cashier, the supervisor, the manager, his boss, and his boss' boss telling me what I should be doing! Very confusing and annoying. My hours were kept at 27*/week to avoid having to give benefits.
    * 27 after my lunch breaks.. if I didn't take one, I had to personally tell the manager (instead of just having him look at my timesheet). His moods were always questionable, though, and it was rushrushrush, so I didn't feel too comfortable or have too much time to always tell him. Plus, I shouldn't have had to. Unprofessional -- the manager had no difficulty yelling/belittling someone -- and management had strange ideas about how long it should take for one person to clean a dining hall.

    Advice to Management

Relax and let your employees do their job without micro-managing. It really isn't effective.
