    Pros

    The best thing about working here, I like the people I work with

    Cons

    I have worked for Sodexo at a major Oil and gas unit. I had high hopes of this, (Sodexo) being my last career choice. I have been in this business for 18+ years. I feel I am a highly skilled employee and have moved quickly from cold catering to lead cook trainee in just over 18 months. I am currently looking to transfer to another unit. There is no communication from leadership, little to no training, more and more work with little to no extra help. When I say more work that includes the aquisition of a potential account that needsfood to be prepped and delivered to accomodate up to 200 people each day before 10am, The amount of staff to do this is 2 sometimes 3. These 2/3 also need to prep for the line service including breakfast and lunch service. There are days when we dont have product, eggs, meat, dry goods. etc. This is a huge huge account. There should be no reason for orders not being placed or "dropped". Incentives have not been paid. Reviews have not been made. "Pop up special events" that need immediate attention" when we all know these events have been in the works for days and sometimes weeks. Its always a last minute sprint. A total lack of accountability on management. The feeling of never catching up is rampant. I have worked hard in each and every job, and have a great work ethic. I am beginning to think I have made a wrong decision . I am a Chef, not a "cook faster and get it out" food worker.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The moto of Sodexo is quality of life services. It starts with the employees. I did recommend and get a friend hired. I was promised a finders fee of 100 gift card. I have yet to see it, and I have inquired about it.

    I worked at Sodexo part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    * Work around school schedules
    * Free meal during shift

    Cons

    * No options for raises (and people who should've gotten them [ex, after one year] had to fight for months).
    * Managers don't talk to each other (ex, each would tell us different, conflicting ways to close and take care of extra food. We would get in trouble if the wrong manager was working that night).
    * Had to contact EEO to get a women's locker room installed
    * Almost dehydrated after doing a favor and working a double. We couldn't have drinks behind the counter or in the hallway and weren't allowed to leave our workspace to have water.
    * Never listened to our order requests and consistently ordered too little product.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * Take courses on Organizational Psychology and how to keep employees happy.
    * Take at least one business class.
    * Listen to employees.

    Pros

    The main plus of working as a food service worker is the free food. It almost makes up for the abyssmal wage and the fact that patrons aren't allowed to tip you.

    Cons

    The compensation for food service workers is atrocious, especially considering the incredibly mediocre work environment. The hours aren't very flexible, and as a part-time position its hard to build your life around as a student.

    Treat the food service workers with some respect

    I have been working at Sodexo part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    I have very few pros but I'll start with the fact that I really like my hourly wages here. I enjoy the fun atmosphere created by my coworkers and I.

    Cons

    Working for Sodexo at Toyota park has been a nightmare. Sodexo came into Toyota Park in 2012 and I have been there from the beginning. The management is confused at best. Through two years we have had at minimum three different management teams and at one point we had no manager which caused supervisors to conflict with each other while trying to take the head position. There is absolutely no incentive for individuals to stay with Sodexo at Toyota Park. Sometimes there will only be one or two events a month which falls on the event planner and not Sodexo however the lack of hours we receive can be attributed to Sodexo. This company tries to have workers there a bare minimum of hours causing an unsuccessful service to our customers. By having no incentive to work there because the hours provided barely equate to the cost and headache traveling to and from the stadium, they are extremely understaffed. This puts unnecessary stress on workers that can actually threaten ones health working in 90 plus degree temperatures with no fan,air conditioning, or breaks. I have literally witnessed my beloved coworkers getting transported from work to the hospital via ambulance due to heat related illnesses. Working concerts which can be 12 hour days in the summer no breaks are provided. There is not enough staff to cover breaks if need be for example there is only one cook and if that cook needs a break there is nobody there to relieve that individual. One can ask to go to the bathroom like a child asking for permission though. Due to these reasons as well as quite a few more I have no choice but to resign from my current position that I have successfully kept for what would be 7 years if I completed this season. This also brings up another great reason to not work there I have been employed at Toyota Park for over 6 years now and was hired by Sodexo when they took over in 2012 and they have no respect for seniority which is my final straw with this company. Individuals who just got hired with in the last year or two if even have been promoted to stand leads and supervisors disregarding a written agreement with our union to promote based on seniority. This contributes to why we cannot provide our customers with a satisfactory experience because the individuals who have been there for many years that know that stadium inside and out are being treated very unfairly and completely disrespected which leads to great workers like myself walking away from a job that they truly love.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    All I can say is get it together. Many managers there have no clue what it is like to work at the bottom and I doubt they will ever understand how to run that stadium successfully. Treat employees with respect and make them feel comfortable and happy working there. In fact maybe if you truly promoted from within based on seniority as you claim to you would have a much better return on your investment being at Toyota Park because the individuals that have started at the bottom can provide great feedback as to how to successful run the stands and keep customers coming back.

    I have been working at Sodexo part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Working at Sodexo everyday reminds me just how important my job is in helping to make a difference in the life of a fellow community member that can no longer live by themselves. The compensation benefits are worthwhile for those that can tough out the first few years showing you can be a dependable worker.

    Cons

    There is absolutely no opportunity for job growth at all. For those that are stuck with on-call positions, expect to have very little work-life balance and get use to having your phone always within arms length all day everyday. I would only recommend this company to a friend only if they are a self-starter with a strong sense of ethics. Chances are very good that the person assigned to train you on your first day knows just about as much of how to do your job flow as you do starting out. Do not expect to get any help from senior management as they have already left for the day before you even set foot in the building.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Go back over the collection of job flows and carefully consider if the amount of time you expect each task to be done is within reason. This plays a major role in determining whether or not the crew can actually get everything done by the end of shift without having to regularly stay over.
