    Pros

    Great Products. Great benefits. 401k matching to 5%, with vesting in 4 years.

    Cons

    Lack of focus and execution in the sales and marketing organizations. Many sales persons do not know how to sell a solution. They are very product focused.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop changing every 3-6 months. Train the sales team to sell solutions and not just products.

    Pros

    People are nice to work with and good work-life balance. Managements are well organized. Not much political situation in R&D organization.

    Cons

    Not much chance for personal growth. This is not a place for someone, who is new to software industry and needs chance for growth. Company's old business line is declining and losing profitability.

    Great benefits and team; OK work-life balance depending on your manager.

    Cons

    Slow to change old way of thinking and doing.

    Reward the employees that truly get the job done, i.e. those in back office positions with titles less than manager. Get those "lifers" out of there and get some new blood in!

    Pros

    There is plenty of opportunity for growth if you're willing to work in one of the "hub" locations in CA and VA. Benefits (health, vacation, etc.) stack up well against others and telecommuting is an option.

    Cons

    Mergers and acquisitions have led to a somewhat fragmented organization - some divisions have integrated well, while others are more like "islands".

    Listen to each other and collaborate more effectively at senior management levels.

    Lots of travel
    Disconnect between upper management and those in the field
    No advancement from within - too many outsiders brought in for upper jobs
    Immediate supervisors lie about promotions to entice employees to remain

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Advance from within. Only your current employees understand the culture and the areas that need the most improvement. Germany needs to take hands-off approach with North America operations. When a supervisor says an employee will receive a promotion for specific performance (e.g. - superior reviews; excellent customer feedback; high P/E ratios on contracts), then the promotion should occur!

    Pros

    Some decent technology, such as the integration technologies from the webMethods acquisition and the acquisition of IDS Scheer. Good benefits package, and Software AG kicks in for 401K which isn't as common as you might think in tech.

    Cons

    SoftwareAG is legendary for being slow moving, and believing the world is the way they see it. Seriously in need of some market leading (rather than market following) technology leadership, rather than Ivory Tower academics. Other companies are inventing the future, Software AG is often distantly following.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop blaming your customers for your problems. The technology world is NOT the way you see it. It's not standing still, waiting for SofwareAG to catch up. It's moved on to newer ways of doing things, such as virtualization, cloud technologies, and lower effort ways of building applications. The effort involved in upgrading, patching, administering, and supporting your products is often crippling to your customers, and many of them are moving to solutions which are far simpler to maintain.

    Pros

    very good work culture and nice pay. It has very good career opportunities. It has flexible hours of work and hence that can be a big bonus for people working at long distance.

    There is nothing wrong with the company. The managment needs to be more project driven.
