    Pros

    Great, intelligent, motivated co-workers. Management will listen if you are willing to challenge their decisions with alternatives (not simply complaining). Upward mobility and compensation for training. Projects are local, so you can have a family or pets.

    Cons

    Corporate red tape. Top down decisions not necessarily conducive to the type of employee they aspire to attract. Insurance isn't great.

    If you want to hire and keep smart, creative people quit trying to stamp them all into a mold.

    Pros

    Benefits are amazing,,,,,,150% 401k match, profit sharing, all healthcare, dental, life, long term disability, short term disability are paid by the company. The health insurance is an HSA with a high deductible but if you contribute tax free to the savings account (what you would be paying for your monthly premiums somewhere else) it's a great plan. Corporate discounts on cars, cell phones, dining, travel, appliances.

    Cons

    They don't always pay top dollar for talent but they try to make up for it with all of the benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The company should be changing with the times. Pay more for top talent, revamp the bonus structure.

    Pros

    Sogeti does a good job hiring talented people. You can definitely set your own career path and achieve your goals. 401K matching is about the best I've ever seen and often employees are given profit sharing through an added bump into our 401K accounts. The clients and projects are interesting and Sogeti works hard to support delivery. There is a strong focus on providing client delight and much talk is given around creating solutions over transactional, staff augmentation work.

    Cons

    Unfortunately, the great intentions do not always come to fruition in practice. They will take staff augmentation work to keep people billing, but it definitely takes away from the opportunity to do true consulting work. Decisions are made hastily at times and it feels like the kitchen keeps getting rearranged. There are a lot of short sighted decisions being made instead of lasting strategy implementation. The bonus structure is revamped every year, and they are quick to point out how much better it will be for the consultant, then a month or two later the bonus tiers are reset back to what it was originally and this is creating a great deal of frustration among the consultants. It also affects morale, as the bonus is strongly connected to billable rates which the consultant has no control over. The rates are negotiated by the Account Execs who make their money regardless. If you are put on a project that is in trouble, you are punished by working to fix it, because by the time you get there, the project is a financial loser and your bonus suffers. This is a deplorable way to deliver bonuses, and it sends a powerful message to the consultants that I do not think is intended. Further, the messaging around all of this is terrible. Lastly, vacation time is not aligned with career experience. When bringing in new managers/senior managers and higher, they start everyone with the same offering and one must build tenure within. This is a detractor for those that have already achieved more personal time off. It impacts work/life balance as well, as senior leadership is expected to maintain a fulltime set of duties and are also mandated to bill a set amount of hours on top of that. They only give 7 days for holidays and they do not float, so it makes it difficult to follow the client's schedule, and quite honestly, 7 days per year is bad anyway.

    Get your messaging right. Do not make promises or announce changes and then not follow through. Reconsider your time off policies and the way you deliver bonuses.

    Pros

    Some of the benefits are outstanding such as the 401k match. Healthcare is 'free' but the deductible is 12.5k for family each year. Free cell phone server but you have to buy your own phone.

    Salaries depend on your skill set and how well you negotiate the starting salary. Merit increase are poor at best.

    Cons

    Seems the bonus program is used as a substitute to merit increases. However, the bonus program is structured really for a select few. The rank and file folks - i.e. the consultants who do the work have a hard time getting a bonus. If you are lucky enough to have a good bill rate and spend little if no time on the beach, then you will get a bonus. Both factors though are beyond the control of the consultant which add to the frustration level.

    Consultants are not managed per se by local management. The model is 'you are in charge of your own career' sounds nice but what this really translates into is management is sales oriented not technical.

    Free training is available but the content is dated and hardly relevant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop selling the bonus program as a benefit. It is not. If you want to really retain employees in this very competitive market, then treat the employees better. Pay them, provide real feedback more often than once a year which is typically too late for correction.

    Pros

    Sogeti has smart and talented consultants who really want to satisfy clients' needs. There's decent benefits including a large 401k match and a lenient policy on tuition/training reimbursement. They've had steady growth for a while and hopefully as their brand name becomes more recognizable, they will attract more prominent clients.

    Cons

    Large units like in Ohio probably have great structure and communication, but for years my smaller unit has struggled with this. Organization is lacking and there aren't as many client project opportunities as you'd expect. They will try to shoehorn you into a project if you're on the bench too long, and that's really frustrating.

    Fix your communication structure in smaller units.

    Pros

    Healthcare is high deductible, but there is no premium. Fantastic 401k, just make sure you stay for 3 years. Additionally, they set aside 12k a year (per consultant) for tuition reimbursement - Masters degree, certifications, trainings, etc...

    Salary is competitive. Great job for recent grads especially.

    Cons

    401k takes 3 years to vest. High deductible insurance. Some clients just plain suck. Sometimes there is a lack of communication.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    If a consultant is doing staff aug work, and they are unhappy, please work your hardest to find a new role.
