Advice to Senior ManagementEasier said than done, theory and practical are two extreme, it is good to combine two together.

ProsGreat culture, great people & a great product. There are opportunities for growth & you are provided the tools you need to succeed.

ConsI genuinely don't have any real cons. Every company has their good & their bad, but my experience with Solar has been nothing but positive. They have allowed me to move & grow in multiple areas of the business & have given me every opportunity to improve myself.

Solar is an excellent company with lots of opportunity to learn

IT Analyst (Current Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsSolar has been a wonderful company to gain experience in the latest technologies and growth in the Oracle and MySQL space.

ConsWhile giving us lots of room to learn, there is little room to move forward on a career path. Most of the IT analyst have been in the same position for more than 5 years.

An awesome company to work where excellence and growth is expected.

Senior Technician (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsManagers and supervisors fully support employee needs with respect to job growth and other personal matters. Teamwork and individual contributions are strongly encouraged while giving employees the leverage to be more self - productive and initiative.

ConsSalary range was not the best, as expected. My salary was considered fair for my job position, regardless of prior experience or capabilities.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue your outstanding support and concerns towards your employees. Safety meetings, employee trainings, and quarterly reports were always a big plus for me, so keep up with that as well.

Great introductory work experience, compensation, and hours.

Intern (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsRotational programs allow for experience in many areas over the course of your career. Employees are responsible for certain aspects of each project and with with others in the department to share findings and budgets in order to ensure that projects are profitable and other strategic discussions. Annual conferences are held to that include employees from international offices, great way to learn about e successes and failures other companies face.

ConsAlthought there is a rotational program, each rotation does not necessarily result in promotion. Each employee is promoted about once every 1.5 - 3 years.

A great place to work in a challenging engineering environment.

Engineering Assistant (Former Employee) San Diego, CA

ProsSolar Turbines offers a challenging, but fun work environment. The different departments are easily accessible across the organization in order to effectively complete projects.

ConsSome of the computer software and telephone systems are a bit behind the times. Additionally, the general mentality of the company is to maintain the products and designs of the past, rather than moving forward with new or different ideas.

Fantastic if you want a stable Career

Applications Engineer (Current Employee) San Diego, CA

    ProsStable Job
Backed by CAT (Fortune 50 company)
    Annual Bonus
    Great Benefits
    Great People
    Great Job Opportunities

ConsI think the only thing I can think of is they are sometimes still old fashioned. Telecommuting is looked down upon, even if it's a job that requires a lot of travel. And the pay is somewhat decent, but definitely leaves more to be desired.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease, value your employees. Especially the ones that travel a lot. We just want to know if we're doing a good job.
