I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great product, Amazing discount, great medical benefits

    Cons

There is no work -life balance with the company at all .You eat, sleep and dream about this company . When you get hired they talk about how family is important and its a familia... its not . Over the years i seen this company go from worse to nightmare. The amount of paperwork that's involved every week and month is just plain redundancie and there is not enough hours alloted to complete all the document forms they want you to fill out . Register system is outdated and not up to par with todays technology . The only way to make monthly bounce is if your above or at your conversion% goal which is pretty slim to none and the policies are always changing making it harder all the time to make a bounce. They make you fearful of your job on a daily bases if there is no improvment and then your going on a action plan which is a nicer way of saying your getting written up .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To SAFILO Italy you should really evaluate your employees of your coporate office in NYC and New Jeresy to see if they really know what they are doing. You have a SVP who has been with the company for over 7 years going on 8 . For someone who has only made 1 year out 7 should raise a red flag . Your RM's , DM's , Manager's and Key Holders are dropping off left and right due to the fustration of the lack of communication

I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Discounts are really good for luxury sunglasses, awesome team of key holders and sales specialists, No full time for Key holders

    Cons

upper management does not listen to your requests when there are issues in the stores, slow & boring because you often work alone because corporate won't give hours for overlapping shifts, challenges with getting new inventory- don't receive what is on the marketing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micromanagement & listen to the opinions/requests of store managers

    Pros

The discount is awesome. The contest and spiffs are good as well. The designers they company houses is good as well if your really into fashion.

    Cons

The DM is horrible. DM doesn't answer phone or responds to emails when needed. The company doesn't hire from with in and they over look good workers. When replenishment is needed, it doesn't make it on time. The company is really secretive and you will not know anything until last min. Turn over rate is horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to the employees.

I worked at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Amazing discount - friendly team - very little corporate visits

    Cons

This company does not promote store managers to district managers - poor communication from corporate to the stores -no marketing - high turn over of corporate leaders including DMs and RMs- and the IT department - And the merchandising team - thought this young company was experiencing growing pains when I first started - turns out it's just horrible leadership! Lots of monthly reports to submit that are redundant and useless - no HR support - I can go on and on - if you love sunglasses take the job and get your collection then leave - this is all this company is good for

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start listening to the store managers they are at the front line of your $$$$$$$ .. Replenish product faster ! You are losing big money on not have merchandise ! Actually this company will never get it !!

    Pros

Solstice gives you tools to control your own business. Freedom to make decisions.

    Cons

Solstice gives little support to lower volume stores.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give more support to your teams in locations other than New York, California, and Florida. Advertising throughout the mall and television will also help get the word out to boost a traffic increase.

I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Great discount.. That's about it.

    Cons

I realized that I couldn't possibly have a career with this company after watching the DM interact with my store manager.. I have never seen the kind of malicious and hateful behavior that this woman displayed.. It was like watching some one give a pit bull a bone.. The DM obviously doesn't believe in mentoring and teaching someone how to be the best that they can be. She would rather bully and intimidate, and hope that the minions fall in line, than take time to train coach and build a successful team. Our DM is snarky, rude, and acts out of emotions, rather than taking the time to be a true team leader.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to mentor, to be a role model. Take the time to be someone your workers respect rather than fear.. Be good to the people that care.

    Pros

Learning about sunglasses is pretty cool you would be amazed at all the different features and benefits. Work with some super high end brands. As a store mgr at a lower vol store you have to fight to hit 40hrs...it's just not that busy on weekdays

    Cons

Uhhh..so freaking boring! I mean hrs without seeing customers (this doesn't include June to august) lots of lookers and people who end up going to sunglass hut because they send out lots of customer bouncebacks. My mall is one of the biggest in the city and people still had no idea abut the store and it had been there for 7 years!! District and regional are both jokes. I wanted a break from high volume real work but only lasted 6 months before I felt like I was going crazy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This company won't be around for 10 more years. Luxottica Has them beat it's just a matter of time...

I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you're looking for a job that requires very minimal responsibility, this is perfect! The company is extremely micro-managed and the clients coming in the store are coming in specifically for sunglasses so selling is simple.

    Cons

Extremely boring. If you're used to a retail environment and are looking for a break, this is perfect. But you will get cabin fever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Solstice/Safilo have to look at the big picture and realize that Luxottica/Sunglass Hut almost monopolize the sunglass industry. I don't see Solistice/Safilo surviving in the long run.

    Pros

    Great discounts on sunglasses
They have lots of contests for employees to win sunglasses

    Cons

    Very little hours.
If you try to move up. Try a different job.
The manager I was working at. Was super lazy
    Never listened to her employees

They act like try will promote you but it's all lies.
You have to request time off months ahead when in reality your allowed two weeks notice. I don't know why we had to ask months in advance.
Manager hated working Sundays so she made everyone else work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a better manager for the location I was working for
