I worked at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It was good pay for a high school student. Work was super easy if you like selling. Quiet and professional atmosphere. I enjoyed dressing up for work.

    Cons

Was not in the best location for selling luxury items. It was definitely a challenge some times to convince someone to purchase a $500.00 pair of sunglasses that costs $2.00 to make. Customer TO was really slow so there was a lot of time cleaning glasses and standing around. I spent time reviewing WTD MTD YTD sales and making personal goals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would have liked a pay increase. I did a lot of work for min wage.

    Pros

Great selection of product. Great discount.

    Cons

Lack of advancement unless you are willing to relocate. Work alone often. Payroll doesn't support double coverage.

I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Solstice offers great contests (offered almost every month), I have a good boss, great atmosphere that feels rewarding and I feel that my coworkers care about my life outside of work and ok bonuses.

    Cons

Solstice is not organized, took HR over a month just to hire me (very frustrating), then they took a few weeks just to get my employee number, also depending on the time, day and weather, it can be very boring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    get organized

I worked at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I was able to work with good people and made some lasting friendships. They standard Keyholder position that they give to most employees looks better on a resume than just sales. Good discounts, and good incentives when in effect. Decent hourly rates for a retail position.

    Cons

Not many opportunities for upward movement.

I have been working at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Learned a lot re new styles, brands, etc. that helped drive and maximize retail sales for the individual store.

    Cons

Unrealistic sales figures that weren't reflective of slower retail climate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more in person sales training.

I worked at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Relaxed environment
-Interacting and learning about luxury eyewear from brands such as Celine, Prada, Chanel, Dior, GUCCI, Tom Ford, Oliver Peoples, Givenchy, and more
-For a retail, part time job, the company has more-than-average pay

    Cons

-Slow traffic (at the location in which I worked)
-Communication from stores to corporate very limited
-Company changed policies and promotions several times a week
-Company didn't understand how to effectively create promotions and marketing strategy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to advice from the front-of-line associates who interface with customers on an hourly basis. Their advice and feedback can be essential in developing strategies that help you gain more market share over direct competitor (Luxottica/Sunglass Hut). This company has immense potential but seems to misunderstand how to elevate the customer experience in a luxury setting. Unless this company learns to focus on its current doors instead of opening others, it will continue to be stagnant.

    Pros

Great training you learn a lot about different brands. Great hours you get all the latest brands.

    Cons

No room for growth within the company so many great managers and they don't utilize the inside talent. If your looking to be only a store manager this is this place to apply.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Solstice Sunglass Boutiques full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Nice product. Easy day to day tasks.

    Cons

The store is very small and NEVER busy. The commission structure is set up so if you make your sales goal but the store does not then you do not get your commission.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the commission structure. I sold well over my goal each month and not once did I get paid commission, lower the store goal or offer a percentage to the associate who was doing their job.

    Negative Outlook
