Great opportunities for the right positions, other positions are expendable and can/will be outsourced.

    Pros

Good Benefits, slight possibility of growth in certain positions, Executive level management and others at headquarters are reasonable and open to suggestions.

    Cons

Lack of communication between Regional VPs and Headquarters, Possibility of multiple corporate visions/directions, lack of accountability, lack of transparency, rules and guidelines that are written are inconsistent and contradictory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase transparency, share the wealth and make raises available, create one clear vision and work to enforce it instead of telling us the vision and not providing dealerships the means to achieve the vision.

    Pros

My direct manager is wonderful and very flexible when needed!

    Cons

Benefits stink & are expensive, you get lot more work to do and no money, you get a raise every 3-4 years--it's a joke!! They preach that employee satisfaction is number one, does not really feel like it. They have an "anonymous" 800 number to call for complaints but it is not anonymous they always find out who called and when there are numerous complaints about the same person or problem--nothing gets fixed!!

It feels the bigger a-hole or b**ch you are, the further you get in the company!! I work for a few!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to what the employees have to say about a problem and fix the problem or don't ask and pretend to care and let things keep going the way it is

    Don't give immature people power!!

Current Employee - Salesperson in Fort Myers, FL

    Pros

Benefits, perks, sell enough cars there is good money

    Cons

Leadership runs place like a boys club. Have switched to a more volume based pay plan so you must sell more cars to even consider making a paycheck. Work environment is like a locker room.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees and put into practice their ideas. Don't get so defensive when an employee raises an issue.

Current Employee - Salesperson in Charlotte, NC

    Pros

The general working environment is full of good people and Sonic as a company has been trying to be cutting edge when it comes to technology for their employees such as iPads, etc.

    Cons

Management is under a lot of pressure to sell a lot of units which trickles down. Seems as though they are paid on this, so filling the floor with extra salespeople only ends up costing that tier money so they don't care. Leads to a lot of underappreciated and unhappy employees that have a lot more to offer. Also the hours are excessive, which wouldn't be a big deal if it wasn't overcrowded.

    Very Top- Down

Former Employee - F&I Manager in Los Angeles, CA

    Pros

Great people and excellent training program. Direct Managers genuinely cares about you and your success.

    Cons

Many to list. We'll start with its a very Top-Down company. What ever executives say goes and most or all managers will not get in their way or they'll lose their job. It's very sales and performance driven and it's always about today and not what you accomplished yesterday. Company isn't going anywhere and they let go a lot of good people!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You guys are soo worried about money and chasing profits that employee welfare is last on your list. Some high performing reps aren't alway ethical and if you run your company with savages, ready to kill for a promotion or profit, then the company is no better than a zoo!
