    You make good tips working at sonic, especially as a Carhop as opposed to a manager or cook. It is almost always a fast paced environment and as with the majority of jobs, there is ALWAYS something that needs to be done!

    It is managed so poorly that I seriously wonder how this company functions. Not only do they not appreciate their employees but they completely take advantage of them while also over working them. Sonic's turn-over is unreal. I personally only stayed on for two months because I was so dissatisfied with the work environment, and in that time at least 3 other employees came and left.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Encourage managers to get to know their employees, truly appreciate them, and award them accordingly. Without satisfied internal customers, Sonic will never reach its full potential.

    The best reason to work here is the friends you gain from working here. There are absolutely no other good things about this company.

    Where to begin. Hired on as a "cook" at $8 an hour, promoted to "Crew Lead" which was supposed to get me a 50 cent raise but I did not get the 50 cent raise until I got promoted to "Manager" which was supposed to have me making $10 an hour which I did not get. After two months of being a "Manager" I ended up quitting. The owner is suspect to changing hours to pay less overtime. Many others that I worked with at Sonic have experienced not only never getting raises but also having their hours shorted or changed by management. I will never give another cent to a Sonic Drive-In and I strongly encourage every one else to do the same.

    Work on becoming a more ethical company, your moral values are nonexistent.

    No upside to this job.

    Cons

    Denies breaks of any kind. Boss constantly yells at their workers regardless what is going on. Will only hire personalities that will not stand up for themselves. Constant mistreatment of workers caused low staffing.

    It can be well-organized and feel like family and they are always hiring...

    ... But it usually is not. We have a lot of lazy carhops that balance out the ones who work hard, but the biggest problem is the hypocracy in rules, managers who strongly play favorites, the unclean work environments and food (we cleaned regularly, but it only made so much difference) and our food can sit out for hours depending in what it is before we serve it. Our equipment breaks down a lot and it's slow to get it fixed, audits are more worried about wiping things down than actually making the customers happy, hours are very competitive, and the pay is atrocious for the amount of work that is required with raises far and few from stingy managers. And if you manage to get promoted, be prepared to do nothing a lot but insane amounts of work in sudden bursts, since managers seem to either sit around breaking rules they make you uphold or running everything by themselves. I would not recommend this company to anyone for one last reason: your employee discount is 50% select things, including most food items, but is far from the entire menu, which is filled with very unhealthy options with our healthiest ones either being fake or pre-cooked (cooked when we get it, but frozen again)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Even a 50 cent raise shows you value an employee, understand that sometimes employees will want time off because of their family going on vacation so their hours shouldn't be chopped, and please fund new equipment at least every 7 years. Your profits are sky high. You can afford it. Oh and some truly healthy food would be nice. Everything with cheese or fried or with butter isn't the way to go
