I worked at Sonic part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The best part about working at Sonic is the relationships you build with your coworkers. Also, you get to try the new items before anyone else. You meet so many people including the people you work with and the regulars. .

    Cons

There is a lot of pressure to do things in timely manner , which is understandable. They dock your tips out of your check. If you work at a Sonic that is open 24 hours then you will probably only have one day out of the week off. You inly get paid minimum wage, and the managers get butt hurt over so many things because Sonic is practically their life.

I worked at Sonic part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fun, flexible schedule, good work experience, positions are readily available.

    Cons

Unorganized, poor safety protocols, very poor pay with little or no pay raises. Poor training protocol, weak management system. Very stressful job, often picking up slack from other areas (i.e. Kitchen, managers, carrots, drive thru, Fountain etc.).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enforce safety protocols. Create strong management in individual stores, replace those who arent beneficial. Implement stronger training programs, give periodic raises that are deserved, and reward employees for good conduct and excellent workmanship.

I worked at Sonic part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, tips, free food, great customer service experience, learning how to handle disgruntled customers in a calm manner.

    Cons

Management had power trips, sexual harassment, the cooks barley spoke English, and a lot of the employees did not really care about their positions so they did not fully do all of their job duties correctly.

I have been working at Sonic full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You get to meet all sorts of new people. The other carhops are pretty nice most of the time and you get to meet new friends. Oh and free drinks all day!

    Cons

You meet ALL sorts of new people. Customers are typically jerks. Once you get past the "people are people", you get down to $4 or less per hour. They average your tips over the week so they don't have to pay you minimum out of their own pockets. So if I make only 6/hour one day including hourly and tips (which will happen to you eventually), they'll just average it with the day you made say 11/hour in tips so they don't have to pay you the extra $1.25/hour out if their own pocket. They don't actually pay attention to the restrictions you put on your hours when you apply (I work Sundays even though I asked off for church bc you "can't put down religious reasons as your reason to ask off) I work 13 hours more per week than agreed to upon my employment, and generally the managers don't even have their stuff together.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually get to work on time. Show up. Actually read our applications. Respect the times we actually NEED off.

I worked at Sonic part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible scheduling, easy to take time-off.

    Cons

HORRIBLE pay, we only got paid $4 per hour. People were not tipping, and despite this, management refused to put a sign stating that tips are welcome. They expected us to be doing work every second that we were there, which for the amount they paid us, was bullcrap. The management started out great, but gradually they got worse and worse. They never let me off on time and just expected us to be their slaves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually treat your employees like they're worth something. Considering you pay carhops only $4.00 per hour to do laborious work, a little bit of appreciation would be nice. Especially in the summer when it's hot and we may need a moment to drink some water or take a small break.
