    Machiavellian Nightmare

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsExcellent benefits, great quality of life, high-profile setting, incredible surroundings, nice perks

ConsWay too many lifers, stagnation, Dilbert-esque situations

Advice to Senior ManagementMake your reports accountable. Stop worrying about your jobs and tenure and start implementing real change. Have courage to make changes and follow Daniel Loeb's advice and remove yourselves from the thumb of Sony Corp to really find out what true innovation is.

Management and higher ups are unethical and unprofesisonal

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsHealthcare, screenings, car incentives, fitness center

ConsNo opportunity for growth, HR doesn't foster an environment to help those in need, management usually comes in inebriated, continual layoffs and cutbacks in OT and spending

    Dead-end, low paying

Analyst (Current Employee) Culver City, CA

ProsI work with some really talented and genuinely nice people.

ConsDepending on the division you work for, there is no room for growth, no career development and no path to promotion. The division that I work for, expects too much work to be accomplished in too short of a period of time, with too few resources. You have to work a lot of extra hours in order to keep up with the demands.

Homogenous at top and middle tiers, hires european to boost diversity rather than utilize US talent and diversity.

Business Analyst (Former Employee) Culver City, CA

ProsIt's a well known company with extraordinary resources. The film department brings forth the best most entertaining films of any studio. Despite despite a lack of diversity in upper management the studio can produce diverse product annually.

ConsThis studio is trying for people who are not to-the-manner-born--right last names, right universities, right ethnic background etc.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice would be to actually share the wealth and power, rather than speak about it.

    No attention to Temps

Digital Content Marketing Coordinator (Former Employee) Culver City, CA

ProsHands on, a great deal of new work experiences working with new films

ConsTemps are overlooked and overworked without regard. No one will help you because they are all afraid you will take over their jobs or know too much and be too much of an asset.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more kind to temps, they will stay longer

the IT department and Business Enterprise & Corporate Technology have no clue what they are doing.

Web Developer (Current Employee) Culver City, CA

ProsClose to where I live, carries a good brand name

Conseven If you are offered a million dollor job just run, I had been hired to work on Lotus Notes Migration to SharePoint, and part of my job was to analyse the requiremnts, the Enterprise & Corporate Technology is like your neighbors from hell! Sony is no longer a cool rich Japanese company, most employees are hired because they asked for lowest possible salaries, the level of professionalisem is extremly low, mostly managed from offices of Sony in Inida now, the company tries to copy what TimeWarner does. with tours around the studioes - which are mostly empty!

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease hire people with relevant experinece in their field. you need a shake down. specially in Technology.

Dishonest, unethical, immoral: Sony Pictures Entertainment

    Key Account Manager (Current Employee)

Pros+ You get to work in the film industry
+ Other people out there still think that Sony Pictures is a good company to work for

Cons+ Nepotism: Managers tend to promote their buddies
+ Incompetent management. You can end up reporting to five superiors, which in total have less years of experience in the film industry than you, less academic credentials and less skills. However, as long as you've got a big mouth and lots of arrogance you can go far at Sony Pictures.
+ Too many chiefs, too few indians
+ Hire & fire mentality: I saw people hired for a new job role and fired after a couple of months because management found that the organization should be restructured again (this happens rather often), making the just created role obsolete

Advice to Senior Management+ Take your hat and leave.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
