I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    -Compensation and benefits were decent.
-Nice campus,Coffee Bean, Yogurt land, etc. (gets old very fast).
-Weekly movie screenings (gets old very fast).
-Breaking Bad motor home and Ghost Busters car.

    Cons

I highly advise against working here. While working at a fortune 500 company like Sony might seem enticing, save yourself frustration, and look elsewhere.

For those who have only worked at big corporations like this, you may not mind or even notice what I'm talking about. For those out there who have worked at smaller/progressive work places - look the other way, you won't make it past 6 months here.

    Cons:
-Rigid culture - Strong corporate culture, a world that just hasn't caught on. Awkward business casual requirement in non-client facing roles. Felt like I was working in a corporate nightmare back in 1994.
-Micro-Management and Incompetency - Managers who have no sense of department responsibilities, goals, or vision for growth. Exactly that, 'Managers' not leaders, the type of superiors who FWD emails for others to answer, play on Pinterest and FB all day, take 3 hour lunches, and loudly proclaim when they need to "hop on a call" or "do lunch with someone"
-Annoying loud singing and blasting of bass by higher ups.
-Complacent culture, one that doesn't promote or encourage growth, overall lack of drive and ambition.
    -Lack of direction.
-Internal technology is behind on the times. Lack thereof equipment for employees (old desktop computer and one small monitor).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Higher ups need training on progressive thinking.
-Take a step back and slim down management hierarchy.
    -Hire new/fresh talent.
-Restructure management and do away with Office Space like management style.
-Provide employees with the resources they need to do their jobs more efficiently.
    -Don't be afraid of change.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, great quality of life, high-profile setting, incredible surroundings, nice perks

    Cons

Way too many lifers, stagnation, Dilbert-esque situations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make your reports accountable. Stop worrying about your jobs and tenure and start implementing real change. Have courage to make changes and follow Daniel Loeb's advice and remove yourselves from the thumb of Sony Corp to really find out what true innovation is.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Healthcare, screenings, car incentives, fitness center

    Cons

No opportunity for growth, HR doesn't foster an environment to help those in need, management usually comes in inebriated, continual layoffs and cutbacks in OT and spending

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I work with some really talented and genuinely nice people.

    Cons

Depending on the division you work for, there is no room for growth, no career development and no path to promotion. The division that I work for, expects too much work to be accomplished in too short of a period of time, with too few resources. You have to work a lot of extra hours in order to keep up with the demands.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

It's a well known company with extraordinary resources. The film department brings forth the best most entertaining films of any studio. Despite despite a lack of diversity in upper management the studio can produce diverse product annually.

    Cons

This studio is trying for people who are not to-the-manner-born--right last names, right universities, right ethnic background etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice would be to actually share the wealth and power, rather than speak about it.

I worked at Sony Pictures Entertainment as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Hands on, a great deal of new work experiences working with new films

    Cons

Temps are overlooked and overworked without regard. No one will help you because they are all afraid you will take over their jobs or know too much and be too much of an asset.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more kind to temps, they will stay longer

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment

    Pros

Close to where I live, carries a good brand name

    Cons

even If you are offered a million dollor job just run, I had been hired to work on Lotus Notes Migration to SharePoint, and part of my job was to analyse the requiremnts, the Enterprise & Corporate Technology is like your neighbors from hell! Sony is no longer a cool rich Japanese company, most employees are hired because they asked for lowest possible salaries, the level of professionalisem is extremly low, mostly managed from offices of Sony in Inida now, the company tries to copy what TimeWarner does. with tours around the studioes - which are mostly empty!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please hire people with relevant experinece in their field. you need a shake down. specially in Technology.
