    Pros

Great place to work if you're a yes man / woman who doesn't question lacking strategy or financial losses

    Cons

No career development Personality matters more than abilities Politics matter more than action Lack of strategy

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Sony allows interns to attend all events, such as premieres, press junkets and strategy meetings.

    Cons

They changed their intern salary from 11 and hour to 9 an hour. There is a lot of down time, so boredom is normal.

    Pros

This company understands production and for the most part is hands off. They allow you to do your job and only get involved when there is a need for corporate oversight.

    Cons

They are located in Culver City and they try to make most productions stay on the lot. That can be quite a commute distance for folks like me living in the San Fernando Valley.

    Advice to Management

When there is a corporate oversight that is needed, try to communicate this as early as possible to those in production so that the production folks can prepare and not be caught off guard or are trying to scramble to correct whatever issue there is.

    Pros

overall great co-workers and lots of projects means good exposure if youre willing to take on the extra work

    Cons

Hard to be heard unless you are management, not a lot of time or effort put in to understanding or caring about those 1-5 years into their career.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, company really cares what you think based on employee survey, some leaders are very personable, diversity oriented, lots of little perks, leaders try to reward in little ways like free Sprinkles cupcakes during All Hands, celebrate with ice cream for Oscar nominations, happy hour Thursdays with low cost drinks.

    Cons

HR is terrible as they are very litigious and only care about taking managers point of view rather than listening to employees' concerns. Leadership is far removed from knowledge of product, not as familiar with their own product as they should be, pay not enough for the long hours, likes to overload employees with work instead of hiring more people, middle management not experienced or trained to manage staff/very little management skills.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, offer growth opportunities/promotions.

  11. Company going through changes

    Pros

The benefits and perks such as movie screenings were great.

    Cons

Since the company has been going through changes there is tension and instability throughout the organization. Work environments can be dull and secluded and minimal motivation.
