I have been working at Sony Pictures Television as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Sony in general has a strong sense of value for its employees offering a variety of on lot benefits.

    Cons

Don't have any to speak of.

  2. Easy to get in and stay forever, but be ready for old school methods and old school thinking.

I have been working at Sony Pictures Television full-time

    Pros

Pretty relaxed company culture especially around the campus. Anyone could see themselves staying for 20-30 years and never tiring of the atmosphere. Most people that leave the company end up regretting their decision and try to come back. Luckily, Sony is so large of a company, moving to another role or career path is fairly easy. There are many networking opportunities available to employees of every level.

    Cons

Not very forward thinking. As a company, Sony seems to be trying organizational initiatives that other companies have tried and abandoned years ago. For a company known for technology, it is behind in systems, processes and trends that increase productivity. Flexible schedules, tele-commuting, summer hours are not accepted.

I worked at Sony Pictures Television as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Awesome working on a lot, great work-life balance for the employees, very creative environment

    Cons

Very little appreciation of interns, little compensation, not much care from executives - they seemed very pompous and self-righteous

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to the interns and little guys.

After the geeks make it all run fast we still need creatives to craft smashing content.

    Pros

Autonomous, open minded, smart creative people. They realize they need to drastically re-invent some of their business lines. I think there is comeback in the cards.

    Cons

The size and breath of Sony makes it difficult to compete in fast shifting markets.

    Advice to Management

Small is more nimble, small is real quick. Keep small small.

    Pros

The ability to be creative and express your ideas.

    Cons

Very political and a place where favoritism is part of the entertainment industry.

    Advice to Management

Open your doors to people with other backgrounds and ideas. Stop sticking to things that kind of work. Take chances!
