    I worked at Sony PlayStation

    Pros

Exciting place to work especially if you are into gaming.

    Cons

Have no clue how some got hired and can stay hired.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep only hard working people and don't be afraid of cutting off lazy ones.

I worked at Sony PlayStation as a contractor

    Pros

Great campus, fun product, opportunities to see how the department functions.

    Cons

Contract workers usually get stuck as temps for years or indefinitely. Community is very high school-like. Low pay and not getting benefits despite working alongside the "Sony" employees makes contractors feel like second class citizens.

I worked at Sony PlayStation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The projects I was able to work on was very rewarding (personally).

    Cons

...It was sad to know that management did not know my daily work, and were constantly asking what I was working on every day. I thought that as a manager, this person should definitely know what I'm working on, I mean, I got hired for the specified job that was listed right?

I have been working at Sony PlayStation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

New campus and cafeteria are nice. Good product that gamers are enthusiastic about.

    Cons

Outdated corporate culture, slow to adapt to new technology. Hasn't incorporated the mobile culture that now dominates silicon valley. Nepotism across the organization, candidates are hired and receive promotions based on previous business relationships. The existing workforce though qualified, stagnates. Open reqs get filled
through the back door and then posted to 'Career Opprtunities'.

I have been working at Sony PlayStation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The people at PlayStation are passionate about the products we're assigned to, and its apparent in our work. We are pushed hard to accomplish a lot with little time.
    - There are many resources from within the company to manifest outward facing communication.
    - on-site gym and cafeteria.

    Cons

    - We work so fast, that we forget about our own careers... and HR does not seem to care. Our goals for the fiscal year are written within the last two month of the year, rendering them meaningless.
    - Prerequisites for promotion are vague. When a straight answer is obtained from management, the prerequisites change by the end of the year, making promotion impossible to achieve. Some employees stay in the same position for a decade (or more) before promotion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care about your employees and invest in their development for a smarter, more efficient workforce.

I worked at Sony PlayStation as a contractor for more than 3 years

    Pros

Fun work enviroment, decent hours and pay.

    Cons

They will keep you as a temp for many years so they won't have to give you benefits.
