I worked at Southern California Edison full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

While SCE has been going through changes and reorg within the IT group, this has been needed change as the organization was inefficient. many posting on the site complain simply because they were let go by the company. Even tho I was let go, SCE is still a great company and would return to work there if given an opportunity.

    Cons

Entitlement mentality from long serving employees- nothing is guaranteed anymore

    Pros

    Excellent Pay
    Great Benefits and Pension
    Job Autonomy
    Great promotional opportunities

    Cons

A bit of an old school mentality in embracing new ideas
Dissention between recent hires and old hires

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees hired post recession have much better attitudes than pre recession hires. The California job market is still horrendous. Some Edison employees do not understand how fortunate they are.

If you want to work at a place where your are given the responsibility to make things happen for the good then this is the place. Company going through some long overdue restructuring like all companies. A few long serving employees now being held more accountable and don't like it. This is to benefit the rate payer to reduce energy cost.
