    Pros

New building in Houston is just amazing! Cool perks like fitness center, clinic with a doctor, dry cleaning/car wash/car maintenance services. SWN really cares about their employees and supports work-life balance. I enjoy everyone that I work with at SWN.

    Cons

More organized process for what training courses are available company-wide.

    Advice to Management

Continue the quarterly meetings with Steve- very helpful and informative so that we continue to know where we are going as a company.

    Pros

Fantastic culture, from top to bottom. Values hard work and motivates people to do a great job no matter where they are in the company. Very good work-life balance. Little to no office politics, since so many people are new (very few seasoned veterans to enforce bad behavior).

    Cons

HR team is useless, with a lot of time-wasting exercises that added no value. A lot of people from Anadarko (post the Kerr-McGee shakeup) who tend to look out for each other even at the detriment of others.

    Advice to Management

Never forget what the company was like before Harold Korell showed up. It can happen again. Oh yea - don't ever fire Chef Daniel!

    Pros

    Compensation; 980; new facilities; comfort that you work for a company that actually cares about affected communities; great people; best in the business with vertical integration;

    Cons

Have yet to find success in New Ventures; they've taken very large risks and it hasn't resulted in a return as yet. Since they have few major assets, it's not a place to "see everything under the sun" in oil & gas. It's domestic. It's onshore. It's unconventional. It's highly integrated. That's what it is, so don't complain when it isn't pursuing opportunities that don't fit with the strategy.

    Advice to Management

Try to hit some singles and doubles in New Ventures. You're about to generate so much positive cash flow out of Fayetteville and Marcellus that you won't have anywhere to go with it - in which case, you'll be looking at buying production or buying out another company (two very expensive options relative to organic ideas generated from New Ventures).

    Pros

Company really tries to follow the formula. Benefits and work/life balance are exceptional. Most of management is pleasant and accessible.

    Cons

The job is what you make of it. I have seen new hires struggle due to insufficient training. Have seen experience passed over in favor of degrees and titles.

    Advice to Management

Get to know and listen to the employees. Value experience and knowledge.

    Pros

Given opportunities to work autonomously and to shine; recognized for my contributions; flexible and responsive managers; learning and training opportunities; relaxed work environment; great benefits; 9/80 schedule.

    Cons

Upper managment needs to entertain new ideas to get into some of the liquids-rich shale plays.

    Advice to Management

Good work overall. SWN has a great corporate culture, and an enjoyable company for which to work. Make 2013 a year to prove the naysayers wrong and diversify our shale portfolio!

    Pros

Great employee benefits, good pay for IT talents

    Cons

Some of the old management from the company's earlier years are still around and making a mess. Unwilling to change/modify their style to adapt the modern day style. Can't get rid of them 'cause they been around so long.

    Advice to Management

Offer the old management team a golden parachute and move on.

    Pros

SWN is a great company that knows how to invest in their employees. SWN does require a lot from their employees but the salary and bonus and long term incentive are well worth any sacrifice.

    Cons

Long hours and sometimes demanding. The company has grown quickly and has become a leader in the energy business but not without growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in the right people doing the right things, the underperformers will always weed them selves out.

  9. A Fast-paced, demanding work environment with long-hours, but rewarding.

    Pros

The management treat individuals with respect and entertains new ideas from employees. The pay scale is above average for the industry.

    Cons

They didn't do a good job at explaining the amount of hours required for my position. This all come after I was hired.

    Advice to Management

Overall, management does a great at keeping their employees "in the loop". On the other hand, they don't have much sympathy for whinners, which is good in some respect.
