    I worked at Spansion

    Pros

Benefits were good. Fast paced environment. Many opportunities if individual is eager to learn.

    Cons

People had no social skills. Very intense and micro managed. Job turn over high. No job stability. Saw many being cut so others would benefit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to allow workers to grow with job by allowing then to cross train when seeking others advanced opportunities. Less micro manage and more collaboration rather than segregating.

I have been working at Spansion full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great, employees, technology and business strategy. Recent Fujitsu acquisition will extend life of Fab, increase revenue and expand product portfolio.

    Cons

Very low on employees, limited career opportunities, very little L&D outside of the Fab. Mid level management does not seem to be focused on the long term.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Invest more in employees

I have been working at Spansion full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with. Not much of red tapes.

    Cons

Too many VPs doing who knows what and getting all the credits Too many fires to put off. No promotions or career opportunities. Laying off senior people to hire cheap labor seems to be the trend of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a different job!!! Micro managers not leaders.

I have been working at Spansion full-time

    Pros

Very laid back. Salary is par with industry. My manager sincerely values my skills and makes an effort to promote my career growth.

    Cons

The employees seem to have diminishing faith and confidence in the company because of numerous lay-offs. Which is one of the main reasons for the high attrition rate.

Politics is also rampant as you go higher up in the ranks.

Cafeteria is dead, building is old, IT infrastructure and systems are vintage.

    Pros

Great place to learn new skills, minimum supervision

    Cons

When the going gets tough, Spansion employees get RIFed while higher ups get bonuses or small pay cuts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of laying off people, employees should be sent for training so that then the market turns around, the employees are even more knowledgeable

I have been working at Spansion full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    1. work-life balance. for people who have kids this is a great place to work for because you can use your kids as excuse to go home early and take days off. single people can't do either of those.
    2. most people are nice people, but not all.

    Cons

    1. bad senior management. there is absolutely no (or little) respect for engineers or people who actually do the work.
    2. no career advancement. there are way too many vps and managers in this company so unless they get fired there is no way people can get promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

need to learn to treat the employees with respect.
