    Pros

Benefits are standard, salary is comparable to market, good employee sale events, gym on-site, new building and a good place to develop skills.

    Cons

Proactive behavior is not encouraged, situations unfold so rapidly and very little time is spent to insure they are done correctly. Poor behavior of sales force is excused.

    Advice to Management

For a company that runs lean it needs to focus on process implementation at business unit levels to promote efficiency and allow best practices to be utilized. Make efforts to retain and document knowledge to protect against high turnover.

The real model growth through acquisition, close doors to "save" money, and then acquire more to cover losses

    Pros

It's hit or miss, but depending on the job you hold you might be compensated fairly well.

    Cons

Yet another company in corporate America that grows by acquiring other companies ,gutting them, shutting doors and letting people go, and spending more money than was saved to move the jobs elsewhere. No time to focus on good service or improvements because the teams are so lean that you're lucky to accomplish the day to day.

    Advice to Management

"Lean" teams MIGHT show short term profits, but when service slips and improvement opportunities are missed because people are just trying to stay afloat, don't expect well supported growth; instead expect burnout and higher turnover.

    Pros

Management in certain divisions is top notch, and depending on department there are some great mangers who will give you the room to develop and grow. There are opportunities for advancement as long as your willing to step outside your comfort zone, whether it is location or function. Started out offering 10 personal days and 14 vacation days ; have since reduced the number of personal days though. Overall work-life balance is fairly good depending on your department, typical expectation is 8-5.

    Cons

Significantly below market pay; if you start out at an entry level position with low pay and advance up, HR policies dictate they can only raise your pay by such a percent, hence you will quickly get stuck accepting significantly below market pay if you want to advance. Minimal willingness to invest in their employees in terms of continuing education and their tuition reimbursement program is sub-par at best. Depending on your division, overall culture is extremely lacking, some divisions attempt to create a culture however corporate usually finds a way to negate any gains made.

    Advice to Management

Change your antiquated HR policies; as the economy and employment starts to recover you may be in for an awakening on your compensation and the caliber of employees it will attract and retain

    Pros

Opportunity to take full control of your day to day work with little management. A lot of exposure to an overwhelming amount of business functions.

Easy to get along with most people.

    Cons

Compensation is terrible and constantly complained about on a corporate scale. Far below national average across all sales & marketing roles. Incentive plan seems attractive but will set you up for failure due to lack of support. Impossible to fully execute on business opportunities.

Extremely fatigued morale and the opportunities for growth are unrealistic. Common theme of "being spread too thin". Lean organizational structure.

    Advice to Management

Either inflate the compensation budgeting otherwise the only thing getting inflated will be life boats for this company.

    Pros

People were generally nice and helpful. Expectations were clear. The company is flexible with work schedule and needing time off. Received a $500 holiday bonus.

    Cons

Gross under compensation for position. Company used college-educated temps to cover extra workload rather than hiring regular employees. Everything was about cost-savings. No holiday pay or vacation time. No upward mobility. In general things are tight as the company is just getting back on its feet after bankruptcy. Everyone was on edge as upper-management was constantly shuffling and people were losing their jobs.

    Advice to Management

If you want to retain the best talent, you have to compensate them fairly.

    Pros

You get to work and associate with some very bright people. Pretty good culture, although it has gradually deteriorated in recent years.

    Cons

It seems that schedules and timelines are more important than quality. You get penalized for missing a date but not when you are responsible for a major screw-up and product recall. Unless, of course, you don't make the schedule.

    Advice to Management

Experience cannot be taught, only earned. Appreciate and cherish your experienced older employees, they are well worth it. Do you realize the value of having employees retiring from your company? When was the last time that a retirement event was held at the Lake Forest facility? When will the next one be? Not any time soon for sure.

    Pros

Great internship program as a whole. They offer you ways to find permanent employment within the company.

    Cons

A lot of downtime and minimal responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

    Provide more responsibilities to interns.
