    Pros

    Working with people. Structure work atmosphere. Ability to move up.

    Cons

    Hours are often unorganized. Managers do not show very much appreciation towards employees.

    Advice to Management

    Pay more attention to employees.

    Pros

    Empowers all employees to take care of customers 100% of the time. Good quality products to sell. Apparel is always new and in line with current trends.

    Cons

    Pay scale in store management level is not commensurate to the cost of living in 2013 and forward.

    Advice to Management

    Operational processes needs to be revisited and updated. You have to adopt a better and more efficient distribution and movements of products.

    Pros

    Easy job, get out of it what you put in, extremely easy to move up in the company if you are competent.

    Cons

    Must be self-motivated, not a lot of traffic in the stores.

    Pros

    Free Rentals, good discounts for you and family members, nice work environment, nice fellow employees.

    Cons

    Low starting wage, no benefits for Part timers.

    Advice to Management

    Usually there is only one manager and he/she is stretched to be able to handle everything in a timely manner. So trying to get help from a manager is difficult for employees and customers. They should empower a key carrier to handle simple task that don't really need a Manager this would make thing run allot smoother.

    Lots of weekends and nights.

    Pay dept. leads more money. They determine the success of the company.

    Pros

    Great discount for employees and families. Basic retail job, better customer service than most other places. There are training seminars and monthly meetings to help improve employees as well as the store itself.

    Cons

    High turnover rate. The cons I found were the same as any retail job, some people do not care about their work which makes your job harder at times.

    Pros

    Opportunities to participate in the sports that they sell. Good flexibility of hours. Good communication down the corporate chain. Everyone at all management levels are very approachable.

    Cons

    Crazy hours during all holiday periods. Suspension of all bonuses and raises in 2008 caused good talent to be lost.

    Advice to Management

    return bonuses, incentives & pay increases to retain good people and improve moral.

    Pros

    The best thing is the many different people you will work with.The employees are friendly and some become good friends even outside the buisness. You are always learning about the new items available in the Departments you are working. There are many different departments to learn and each one of them has the a unique customer. Scuba you get the ocean oriented individual while in ski shop you get the person who lives for the cold. The pro deals are an excellent incentive for employees and each employee gets 25% off of in-store purchases.

    Cons

    The time can go by really slow if all of the "projects" are done and the customers are few. The place has drama happening all the time. The customers can sometimes get really pushy about trying to get a price for lower then what it says on the tag. The coverage for departments can be low sometimes and you end up watching 2 or 3 departments at once by yourself which gets hectic.

    Advice to Management

    To be more considerate to employee's feelings. I have seen to many good people go because manager's explode with anger towards them. When a person from corporate is coming into the store you need to relax. I know its the big guys but your frustration trickles down to employees which is a horrible feeling.
