I have been working at Sports Authority

    Pros

Flexible with schedules and the managers work with you so that you have as much authority as possible within your position. They want you to be the best at what you do.

    Cons

It's retail... customers can be difficult and you have to bite your tongue a lot. Payroll shortages can be irritating when your hours get cut and there is minimal communication between managers about shift changes.

    Pros

Great environment to work in. The people definitely make working here worth it. Employee discount and benefits are amazing. Better then any other retailer out there.

    Cons

Pay is sub par. Too many organizational changes. Content with being a 2nd rate sporting goods retailer. Privately owned. Career paths change every 6-8 months. Upper management is never consistent in any decisions made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to stop changing our career paths, or no one is going to stay long enough to move up.

    Pros

Always busy. Would work in footwear, apparel and at cash register all within one shift. Great staff. Long hours on feet. "Spiffs" or commission earned from selling insoles and other monthly specials. Some included were specific socks, treadmills, or sporting equipment.

    Cons

Minimal room for growth. Poorly staffed at some times. Required to obtain customer emails and to sign them up for loyalty programs, which many people would turn down. Reviews and sales count on obtaining this information

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Minimize gossip and favoritism. Add other sales tactics opposed to loyalty program
