    Good first experience

Cashier (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsIf you like sports and can talk about them, it will be easy to give customers the product they want.

    ConsEverything was good, no cons.

    Very good yet incredibly boring.

Sales Associate (Current Employee) Warwick, RI

ProsI loved working in Team Sports, loved helping customers and being able to use my sports knowledge in an effort to help customers. They dont ask much from associates other than to simply approach customers and at least try and make some sales, which is not terribly difficult when people are mindlessly staring at random products. Loved the benefits of working there, good hours, great managers.

ConsIncredibly boring when no.customers are present. Often spent my time playing street hockey in the aisles or bouncing tennis balls for hours. Had a 36 hour sale once and had three customers come in.

    Advice to Senior ManagementMarket better.

Great place to work if you enjoy sports people.

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsA strong focus on doing things the right way; more merchandising freedom than at most big box retailers due to the seasonality. New CEO seems to care about people.

ConsUnrealistic budgets make it difficult to earn much bonus. The big stores get loaded with merchandise but the smaller ones are starved for it.

Advice to Senior ManagementMerchandise the smaller stores deeper in certain categories and get out of others.

    Sports Authority Elite!!

Sales Enthusiast (Current Employee) Chicago, IL

ProsCo-workers, Training, Managers, Discount, Great atmosphere

ConsRoller-coaster periods of sales. Its not every day or week you are able to perform your best due to time when the store is dead empty. Other than that, I can't think of any cons.

Store Co-Manager 6 years with Sports authority

Co-store Manager (Current Employee) Folsom, CA

ProsA great place to work and grow as a person. I have worked at over 7 locations and over 7 positions and couldn't ask for more.

ConsWork life balance can be poor and demanding certain times of the year especially the holidays. But that is the retail world in general. As well as Bonuses never being paid out on time which is frustrating

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to corporate: Pay bonuses out in a more timely manner. It agitates many people i have worked with over my tenure.
