Great place to work

Retail Sales (Current Employee)

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat opportunity to make money, develop sales skills and interact with people face-to-face.

ConsNo real chance for advancement due to few opportunities in current market. In the past when cell phone business was developing a lot people made a lot of money and got put in positions of authority. Now all they really need a front line sales people. Also, they preach ethics, but allow sales people to abuse the system to the detriment of other sales people. The pressure to hit key metrics makes management turn a blind eye to obvious fraud. Shortsighted on this months numbers with negative effects long term that affects individual salesperson, but not management.

Loved my job

Implementation Project Manager (Current Employee)
Kansas City, MO

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than 10 years

ProsI loved my job and the fact that direct management gave resources to do our job...then let us do it without micro managing our daily work. We were allowed and encouraged to think out of the box. Direct management was wonderful to work with and for. They made us feel valued.

ConsThe only con I have is that I was laid off due to no fault of my own.

Advice to Senior ManagementNot certain that I would have any valuable advice for direct management but would say to upper management that the environment of fear that has become "culture" for employees through all of the recurring layoff events has to stop. Everyone says work as usual but that is easier said than done when you are waiting for your pink slip...it seems inevitable because of the constant rounds of layoffs. Moral turns grey.

Awesome experience with great people

Auditor (Current Employee)
Overland Park, KS

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than a year

ProsOver the past year and a half that I've worked here I have made many friends of my great coworkers and have really gained a healthy work-life balance for the first time in my life. I have been given many opportunities to grow and the list of future opportunities keeps getting bigger.

ConsWith being a large company, sometime small business decisions that would appear simple could take extensive amounts of time as every facit of the business has to be considered to ensure decisions that are made are the best for the company and shareholers.

Advice to Senior ManagementI think that the company values and benefits are outstanding and I greatly appreciate all the company offers. I would suggest though that the company consider implementing a process/program that allows clear and stated incremental growth for employees within individual departments or requiring the departments to implement themselves. I have known a few great employees that have left the department or the company because they felt their professional growth was being stifled being told their progression was being held up by business decisions. If there was a way that professional growth was documented to explain exact qualifications needed for progression and guarantee this growth would occurred upon attainment of the requirements, then I feel more highly skilled workers would continue to strive to be better and work harder to obtain this growth. I understand that corporate structure needs to be somewhat pyramidal and it doesn’t make business sense to have more managers that individual contributors, but if the company was upfront with all employees about when growth will obviously be stifled or potentially stopped, rather than stretching it over a long period of time, the employees would respect the company even more and could then make their own decision to stay in the same capacity or to evaluate other opportunities.
