I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Depending on the team you'll be surrounded by people who want to do great things and are willing to learn and change to get there.

    Cons

Confusing internal culture that varies greatly between teams and departments. Conflicting success metrics can mean frustrating interaction with other groups.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look to your digitally-connected and always on marketing teams for both strategy and culture to be competitive in the new telecom arena. You'll find speed, innovation, relevance and drive.

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people are great. There are plenty of good opportunities to move up. Softbank ownership seems to finally be driving change. It took a year but most employees are glad to finally see changes. Compensation and benefits are decent and there is a lot of interest taken by management to ensure competitive pay. Bi-annual employee surveys are taken seriously. Overall, Sprint is a very good company to work for and getting better by the day.

    Cons

Still to much analysis paralysis coming out of headquarter. Does seem our new CEO and ownership are making changes. Hopefully continued improvements will occur here. Work force always under the cloud of fear from workforce reduction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen and communicate. Recent shift to drive needed change quickly is working. Employee morale is much improved and customer satisfaction continues to rise. Just don't slip back to the old ways and we will be good.

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The best thing about Sprint is the work/life balance that working there provides. No one below the Director level works excessive hours. In fact, on campus the lights turn off automatically at 5:30 because everyone is gone!!! Additionally, due to budget constraints very few people are even allowed to travel, so 99%+ of employees don't even travel 1 time per year. No one can say the work/life balance is bad at Sprint!!!
The work is generally interesting and very fast pace. Most of the people are great to work with and there is a lot of team work -especially at the corporate level.
The benefits are very solid, although they get a little worse every year - higher copays, deductibles or premiums.

    Cons

As a career employee, my biggest complaint is how they structure salary increases when you receive a promotion. Since you are internal, you are put at the bottom of the range for the new position. External hires with similar creditials can often get placed in the middle of the range. Since pay increaeses are generally small, it takes years to catch up to the midpoint. This really discourages people from sticking wtih the company.
Additionally, with all the restructuring and downsizing over the years, upward advancement opportunities are very limited and seem to get fewer and fewer with each restructuring.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create more development opportunities. Sprint has a leadership development program, but they only take 10-12 candidates each year, that's out of 30,000 employees. Other than that, you are on your own for development. Out of the 8 managers that I have had, only 1 has helped me with overall personal development that was not just job training. Many were unqualified to provide development training and others were just too busy.

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great place to work, however, location is key. You need to work in a service center if you are looking to move up in to management. Sales goals are reasonable and attainable as a sales person you are looking at $9.50 to 10.00 an hour, but can make 2000 in commission a month. A lead position you can make up to 14.00 an hour.

    Cons

Working retail hours is hard on family life, if you are at the wrong location it is very difficult to get in to the right one. There is limited room to grow unless you are willing to relocate, then there are endless opportunities. This is a great company for a college grad, single and looking to advance.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With all the changes in the company it is difficult to understand the direction, too many big wigs covering their buts implementing plan of actions to appear they are doing something, when in reality all they are doing is congesting the sales process. Area Directors and District Managers should be the only people dictating what occurs in a store as they are the highest level of management that actually know what is going on.

I have been working at Sprint full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not as harsh as other carriers, while hitting your numbers is very important they are still reasonable.
    good work/life balance
    good pay

    Cons

I wish there was more lower level employee involvement after all we are the ones dealing with customers day to day so we have the best suggestions so things run smoother.

I like my store and the team I've helped set up. I like the same amount of employees because it helps build chemistry with who you work with as well.

    Cons

Sometimes the hours are demanding, especially Friday meetings and sales boot camps.
