Was a great company to work for, now is a good company to work for.

    Process Development (Former Employee)

ProsCompany treat employees well, time off, benefits and environment. The company is managed well and is very stable.

ConsCompany has gotten really large and as such the employees are now numbers instead of people. If you like doing the same thing everyday this is the place to be.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive employees a chance to shine through development. When you excel at a task don't make that the only task for the employee.

    Doing Ok, not that great

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Sunnyvale, CA

    ProsGreat work life balance.
    Great colleagues.
Have a promising product pipeline for the future.

    ConsNot the latest technology.
Too many layoffs in recent times. Still a lot of people remaining who are not that productive.
Senior leadership needs to communicate to the rank and file.
    Very limited career growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementIdentify people with talent and reward those who are willing to work hard for the company.

Seemed to be a good company for Perm Employees

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Plano, TX

ProsI think they had free coffee.
Everyone was quite nice, especially my supervisor.

ConsI was contract. The Job I was doing was unbearable and not a match.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not let placement agencies do your interviewing. I am a designer, your agency was WAY off sending me to this gig.

Good launching pad to other companies.

Software Engineer II (Former Employee) Sylmar, CA

ProsFun people to work with in the software department at Sylmar, lots of people try to organize groups to go hiking and such. Lots of time to work on a pet project to improve your skill sets. You'll get introduced to heavy processes that will give you insight on why they are there, and insight on why they should be dropped.

While working at St Jude Medical I received lots of interviews from tech companies (Apple, Google, Linkedin, Twitter). Ended up joining one of them. Few of my coworkers did too.

ConsSometimes you get so bored doing nothing. I ended up working 4-6 hours (w/2 hour lunches) with coworkers.
Cardiac rhythm management division (or IESD - whatever they call it now) has been halting on projects thus lack of career growth and increased layoffs. I hear the severance package is very accomodating. Everything software related in that department is solely in maintenance mode. Most of the money is now going towards nuero modulation in plano, texas. From my initial impression the engineers there are highly questionable in talent, and I would not trust them to develop solid software. You know something is amiss when they overdesign and use jargon to impress people.

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter leadership. I know your hands were tied when I was there (FDA remediation), but that does not mean you should can your existing workforce that made your position possible, solely so you can go towards upper management and say how much money you saved quarter after quarter.

    Successful despite itself...

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood compensation and benefits, nice facilities, company's products saves lives....

ConsThis company is successful because of its products and sales force. Everyone else is just along for the ride. Management within the administrative/support functions is a complete joke. They flounder around on a daily basis providing no direction, no thought leadership, and certainly don't have the knowledge or the guts to make value adding decisions. Often seems the goal is to cost cut rather than provide innovative solutions to the company. Overall the morale within the back office departments is low.

Advice to Senior ManagementThis company has world class medical technology and is positioned well for top line growth. But so much is being left on the table due to poor back office management. Clean house on the administrative side of the company and bring in some people who can actually help take this company to the next level.

Nice company to work for in past years

Medical Assembler (Current Employee) Saint Paul, MN

ProsPromotions were good, a lot of discussion team meetings so that you could voice your opinions and bring up suggestions on needed changes in different areas.

ConsNew management took over in the past couple of years and now company is just going down and losing good, hard working people all because of the changes of the new management and the layoffs of people who have been with the company for years and being let go without a legit reason!!! Hate what the company is now!! It's not for the workers it's for management now!!! Sucks!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your workers and stop treating us like little kids!! No water, no earbuds anymore!! Come on!! Feels like a jail institution now instead of a workplace!!

Good for starting a career in industry.

    Mfg (Former Employee) Arecibo, PR

ProsThere's always work to be done. There's a lot of overtime for those who want to make more money, overall an easy going place if you work in an area with a decent supervisor.

ConsManagement barely ever has an idea of what they are doing, could be a lot better.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew management should look up to senior managers (10 years or more) and try to improve themselves.

    Was a good company

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThey have some of the most talented engineers I have ever worked with in my career.

ConsIn the last two years, we never knew if our job would be there when we came into work. They are trying to restructure their business model by centralization and ignoring the overall impact on productivity.
