Great place to work at. The bank values employees and encourage development

Middle Office Analyst (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsSCB is focused on emerging markets while maintaining a slight aversion for risk. That configuration led the bank to do extremely well during recent financial crisis.

ConsToo many processes in place. takes a long time to make decisions.

    Bank undergoing change

N/A (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsIn past, bank valued employees with good banking skills. This has changed. There is an increasing rush to replace employees with others who have experience in businesses the bank does not have the competency to support.

ConsBank is undergoing a lot of change. Power base is centered in Asia and tends to be ignorant of market dynamics in US.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

there are always good training opportunities as long as you have a willingness get the training.

Consyou should be prepared to put in a fair share of work if you are to progress in the company, otherwise a really good company to work for.

Start-up culture but large matrixed organization

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThose identified as top performers are given lots of opportunity for upward and lateral mobility, which is good for people who prefer a general management (vs specialization) career track.

Senior management in London and other regional headquarters seem to care about making things better.

Values based organization which is open to giving back to the community. Lots of opportunity for volunteerism.

ConsHard to navigate matrixed organisational structure - which often slows down decision making and results in lack of ownership (probably common with all large global companies?)

A lot of managers just focus on pleasing upper management, often ignoring or trying to cover up the real problems and issues.

Majority of internal infrastructure outdated or not user friendly

Advice to Senior ManagementGood job on people management.

    Excellent Experience

Senior Recruiting Specialist (Current Employee) San Francisco, CA

ProsGreat culture, collaborative, everyone takes a team approach and is respectful of one another in Talent Acquisition, America. The Head of the TA team is very supportive, patient, and realistic regarding deadlines and goals to be met. He is very hands-on and open with his lines of communication and direction. the TA group thinks like "true" business partners to the business lines we supported not HR drones kept in the dark. I give a thumbs up to working with this team.

ConsLack of opportunities outside of Newark, NJ - which is a very undesirable working environment and unsafe location. The open work space concept can be very distracting which causes a disconnect due to people then searching for a quite place to work or from home.
