    Pros

Build business relationships with BDP and b2b customers as well as benefits for full time employees. Part-time flexability available for department associates.

    Cons

Poor upper management, direction and priorities change on a weekly basis. No connection to many of its other services like kiosk or staples advantage which put you in a bad situation with customers on a daily basis. Way too many processes for the same actions very repeatitive, without any clear result. Very disorganized as far as goals or potential to move up. Recently changed staffing model and recruit much lower quality of candidates than in the past.

    Advice to Management

Best of luck with the merger, focus ofn associates and doing right by them, they are a direct result of what you can achieve. If you are constantly degrading and belittling your part timers which make up most of your building that will be the type of result you get.

  2. Micromanaged, unclear direction, inconsistent program rollouts

    Pros

Benefits are good for full time only, available to any full time after 90 days. Somewhat standard. Flexible scheduling available to part time associates

    Cons

As a GM I was advised to do many unethical things in regards to part time associates and "managing out" people at their discretion. Poor leadership/upper management direction resulting in a bit of chaos. Priorities change weekly, severely misappropriating funds away for stores to push omni/online division directly effecting customer satisfaction. HR department is a joke, scared of their own shadow repeatedly direct managers to go against policy when it's to their benefit.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a direction and stick with it, do not under value your associates or managers. Figure out how to properly run a HR department, emails get lost between your "business partners", dedicate a business partner to give better direction.

    Pros

You never have to worry about overtime in any position other that General Manager.

    Cons

With several branches of services being out sourced it was very difficult to handle matters in a timely manner. The turn over rate is embarrassing to the point where customers notice the amount of new employees..

    Advice to Management

Thanking team members goes a long way. I think the company would benefit from having more "leaders" and less "bosses"

    Pros

I can't think of any pros to this job. The closest I can come up with would be the 10% discount on merchandise, and that's really not that much to brag about.

    Cons

Paid little. Manager wanted too much and did too little. Training was on a computer and was very anti-union.

    Advice to Management

Hire better managers to run the store. People who know how to work and delegate.

    Pros

Staples has a broad selection of office supplies, printer cartridges and technology used in offices. You can find furniture, computers, telephones and the basics to set up an office in a one-stop shop. The customers are knowledgeable and interesting to find solutions for.

    Cons

High turnover with limited hours and limited wages. There's never a dull moment when you try to find out what's really going on. Limited responsibility from start to finish on a job means that the customer doesn't know who is responsible for what.

    Advice to Management

Coordinate your business processes so there's less "dropping the ball."

    Pros

    Average salary for college grad

    Cons

Lack of diversity in executive mgmt, just look at the website. Up north bully tactics. No specific schedule for associates in fulfillment centers. Consistent lie that staples is a great place to work, more like a NJ sweatshop. Only four mgrs, in the entire warehouse had degrees, rather promote Hs dropouts, than hire competent grads. All they cared about were numbers and always wanted sups to terminate or do dirty work for incompetent uneducated ops mgrs. can completely understand why company was started by Bain Capital. Sleazy upper mgmt.

    Advice to Management

Retire, go to college, and stop faking it by reading business magazines

pay is minimum even if you have experience you may get an extra 25 cents over minimum, you have to push warranties hardcore otherwise your manager threatens you constantly with your job, overall find a better job.
