    Pros

Innovative, young, company. They like to think big picture and longer term, giving you access to job growth and opportunities later down the road.

    Cons

Personal growth lags at times, as there is a lack of training and career path, as there isn't necessarily a clear road map drawn out. Communication and standardization of processes between properties, making it easier to transition between one hotel and another.

    Advice to Management

Take more advice from lower level managers and employees, their feedback can lead to better and brighter growth in the long term.

    Pros

You will learn a lot in a fast paced environment.

    Cons

Pay is too low to live where you work, you will end up having to commute. They also cap increases on employee pay. To make a decent raise you will have to leave the company and come back.

    Advice to Management

Raises and promotions should be awarded based on those who have worked hard by offering them the position or increase. Having employees compete for the same position creates negativity in the office and makes it tough to want to be there.

    Pros

The company's salary range seems to be higher than most hotel chains.

    Cons

Providing more training to employees should be given more focus.

  7. Exciting company to work for, but with challenges typical of a Fortune 500 co.

    Pros

Innovative company, exciting projects to work on, can lead to a fulfilling career if you are someone who knows how to navigate a highly-corporate environment.

    Cons

Challenges are very typical of a fortune 500 company: lots of politics & red tape to navigate. Can be slow to implement new processes (especially those aimed at driving efficiency/innovation).

    Pros

They are a Union hotel, and you will have both Union Worker's benefits as well as Starwood Hotel brand's benefits.

    Cons

As with most Union properties, the employee mentality and moral may not always make it the happiest of places to work in but most jobs are not 100% perfect so this is not so bad as long as you do your job, you should be fine. The management could use some training in fairness and professionalism.

    Advice to Management

Your managers should be retrained and tested for the quality of their professional demeanor regularly because they often are the first people to bring a poor example of customer service to the internal client which are the employees that they manage.

    Pros

Starwood can offer good travel opportunities and perks both job-related and for personal time. The company has a great community of associates. Duties are dynamic which keeps things interesting. The intricate network of this business model was beneficial to learn.

    Cons

Large corporations can be cumbersome and it can take a while to accomplish something due to the dense line of protocols and chain of command.

    Advice to Management

Treat your contractors like part of the family.
