I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent Salary (actually, unbelievable for an intern) Flexible Hours Tons of opportunities to learn and for growth

    Cons

Policy doesn't allow company to give recommendations to future employers outside of state farm...which for interns who HAVE to find a regular job after the internship and do not necessarily want to stay with SF, this is a downside. Majority of jobs are in Bloomington, IL.

    Advice to Management

Consider changing the "no recommendations to outside employers" policy for interns.

I have been working at State Farm (Less than a year)

    Pros

This has been a great place to grow and learn about the world of insurance. Good boss, great team, and easy environment to work in. Great sales training and I've learned a lot about customer service. As a whole, State Farm is definitely on the up-swing. They have been doing very well lately, but it will be interesting to see what happens to them in the next decade with self-driving cars.

    Cons

The salary sucks. With a college degree, there are a whole lot better jobs that you can go into. Unless your want to be an agent one day, there isn't much use sticking around for very long. After the internship they require you to move so there is no ability to stay in your same town. Now, I live in a small town so this may be different in bigger cities.

I worked at State Farm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I truly enjoyed my summer internship at State Farm where I was able to grow and contribute my skills in a professional setting. The experience offered personal growth and a solid work-life balance. I was able to ask questions and learn something new each day.

    Cons

Overall I enjoyed my experience at State Farm. Despite my positive experience, I did not gain full exposure to the more than one many facets of business they operate in.

    Advice to Management

I generally agree with the management strategy implemented at State Farm Insurance but I would suggest a more organized internship program with specifically detailed responsibilities and learning practices for entry level workers.

    Pros

Some customers were gems and really made my day.

    Cons

The office culture was a bit unprofessional when customers weren't present and the agent can be a little crazy.

    Pros

State Farm maintains a very innovative environment, providing interesting technical projects for IT/Systems interns. All the projects are important to the firm, so you are able to actually contribute with your creative thinking.

    Cons

There are not many tech people in the firm, so when working on the tech project, you might not able to find a direct go-to person for questions. You have to figure out many of the problems on your own.

    Cons

Not enough work, found myself not having enough tasks.

    Advice to Management

Not enough work during my intern period.
